The Knicks have a chance to finish 2025 with a huge win on the road against the Spurs, one of the few teams in the NBA on par with them (it’s crazy how many of the top teams in the NBA are in the Western Conference. It works perfectly for the Knicks, of course. Let those teams beat the shit out of each other before the Knicks get to face the bloody remains in the NBA Finals).

We have to do a better job protecting the paint and rebounding to close them out and win this because we can’t count on 3s.

No, I can’t live with a 41pt Spurs fourth quarter. They were running the same plays time and time again and we were doing nothing to stop them. Not to mention Champagnie, not to mention Kornet’s offensive rebounds over the all-star KAT, and so on. No, I cannot live with this.
Won’t win many games when you allow an opposing player who’s averaging less than 10 ppg to shoot 11 for 17 from 3pt.

Went 11 deep, played the bench 96 minutes and it wasn’t the reason they lost. Main starters played 36, 35, 34 and 33 minutes.
I love this Knicks team, but it pisses the shit out of me that their timing at becoming amazing is at the same time that these young Thunder and Spurs teams are also peaking.
But hey, fuck ’em, they have to beat each other up until the Knicks get to pick the carcass clean in the NBA Finals!

Agreed there were some real questionable decisions down the stretch but can’t win em all.
Whenever coaches get on him to be more aggressive his shot quality declines. But yeah. He’s not shooting well. He should dump Dirk and get Ray Allen to help him. 😉
Play defense and win
Defense will remain this teams biggest question mark
We were missing Hart and Mitch. That’s a LOT of rebounds for a team that has an edge in OREBs most nights and where those OREBs often make the difference between and W and L.
The defense is also lacking lately.
The offense has generally been so good, I think the defense is getting lazy. But you can’t do that against a good team. We didn’t defend the paint or 3 point line well.
Personally, I’m shocked we almost beat them. I thought the stars were so lined up for SA tonight I almost bet against the Knicks. I come away from this more confident in our chances of winning the whole thing than they have been. We can hang with anyone in the west. We just have to put it all together defensively. That’s the one hole on this team.

This game was lost with Towns getting abused in pnr, running back into the paint instead of attacking the ball and trapping, 3x on a row, that and a few brain dead plays to run away from the guy scorching hot from three (kolek and clarkson). If we are relying on Towns to make smart plates on the defensive end in clutch time we are in deep trouble. Missed Robinson big time this game
