Love that Nuggets team, or rather, I love Joker + Murray. And there IS something to be said for the team actually having the experience. Thunder would not be the first 60+ win team favorite to flame out in the playoffs.

I think (hope) we will get a strong Brunson game tonight and close it out. Final 4 of Knicks/Pacers/Wolves/Nuggets-or-Thunder? Hard to believe.

Two 4s have never faced off in the NBA Finals, so that bodes well for the Knicks if they can just win one of these next two fucking games!

The 1978 NBA FInals, with a 3 playing a 4, was the lowest-seeded matchup in Finals history (in terms of both seeds being low. Obviously, the two times that a #8 seed competed, which were both times against a #1 seed, would be the lowest combined seeding).

a 2/4 result in the east would not be that funny to me as it would mean that the celtics beat us

How crazy is it that the Knicks are really close to having the best record of the remaining playoff teams and in position to host Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Obviously we have a long way before we get there…

a 2/4 result in the east would not be that funny to me as it would mean that the celtics beat us

I legit forgot that the Knicks are the 3 seed.

So they can match the record if they play the Nuggets in the finals!

It really is amazing how top-heavy the NBA Finals typically is, where a THREE seed is typically a rarity even.

Hey Brian, it will be even more amazing when the 4 and 6 seeds meet in the finals after they both win all their series in 5 games to get there.

The ticket I bought for tonight’s game before the series started has gone up 40% in value but if I tried to sell it I would give 85% of the delta back to the 3rd party site. What a racket. Not surprising that Dolan jacked up all the prices. He’s basically donating money to stubhub if he doesn’t.

It’s been asked before by others, but I also want to ask how it is that Boston can seemingly get an open trifecta for Brown or Pritchard or White or Hauser any time they want, and yet the Knicks can never, ever get one for KAT.

I’m not an X’s and O’s expert that’s going to describe each and every play, but on a simple level, it’s because they have players moving in purposeful ways and the ball moves quickly.

Our offense has way too much dribbling. When the ball does move it’s often just moving from one stationary player to another. We play too slow and on some nights there are no picks, cuts, plays …

If they are going to just stick to Towns to take 3s away from him, there has to be ways to exploit that to get open looks for Brunson, OG or Bridges. Maybe Hart being a bit gun shy and inconsistent is part of the problem. But I think it’s more than just that. The offense just looks bad.

hart does not really seem gun shy he took the second most overall shot attempts in the last game 15 to jalen 17 and the most 3 point attempts 9 making 5 of them

I’m not sure I’m going to be able to watch this game. I’m already feeling stressed out and it’s not even noon. I may have to watch Nonna’s again and just check the score on my phone every few minutes. The bad TOs, lack of defensive boards and other bad decisions may be too stressful.

I’m going to be at the Yankees game tonight, so it’ll be REALLY hard for me to keep up with the game. So hopefully they just make it easy for me and kick Boston’s ass so badly that I don’t even have to follow it.

I’m not sure I’m going to be able to watch this game. I’m already feeling stressed out and it’s not even noon.

Lol that’s why I was looking to see how much I could get for my ticket tonight. And I just sold it for an 8% profit after fees. Hardly worth the trouble but I was not feeling excited about it. Here’s hoping I have the world’s worst FOMO in 8 hours.

My eye is twitching right now and not even because we’re the 3 not the 4 seed.

My eye is twitching right now and not even because we’re the 3 not the 4 seed.

It’s good, though, because it’s unlikely that two 4 seeds will make the finals, so hopefully it means that the #3 seed Knicks will, instead.

    A #3 playing a #1 is a very normal Finals matchup.

It’s weird to be so into a team that just the idea of watching them stresses you out, but I 100% get it

Going to the game tonight …. hopefully we can finally close someone out at home!

Yeah, the experience of being a fan has changed a lot for me over the last few years. The overall level of stress in the air makes it much harder to enjoy anything other than a blow-out. Last game I turned it off late in the third and just checked the score to see if I should turn it back on or not.

I freely admit I’m now a full-blown wimp. One does what one has to.

The unforced error aspect of this team doesn’t help the stress. It’s not as bad as past years, when the experience largely involved screaming at the screen and reaching for a shoe to chuck. But I guess back then there was less at risk, and little to expect.

Needless to say this is an absolute must-win game. Not only does it get us to the ECF, but it buys us 3 days of rest before we face a Pacers team liable to run us into the ground.

I don’t think there’s been so much riding on one game since 1999. We have a chance to guarantee homecourt in the ECF, and if Denver can win one more game, in the Finals as well. We’d arguably be favored in all matchups from here on in.

If we lose, we’re likely to lose Game 7 on the road, and this is very likely the best opportunity we’ll have to contend within the Brunson era with the implosion of CLE, the breakdown of Tatum, and the possible flameout of the OKC juggernaut.

For those reasons I’m pretty much certain that we will lose, because the Knicksiest possible outcome is blowing a 3-1 lead to the Tatum-less Celts.

    Official Pagliacci Predictions:
-Starters get destroyed again, Thibs rides them regardless
    -White 6+ 3PM, 30+ pts
    -Kornet 5+ blocks
    -Towns 0 3pm
    -Brunson FG% under 35, 30+ FGA
-BOS 10+ more 3pm than us
-OG unable to effectively guard Brown
-Down 15+ again, fake comeback and close loss
    -Blowout loss in G7

I too find watching games in real-time to be pretty much intolerable with this team. They just play so fucking stupid and Thibs’ strategies are so awful. We’re really here despite him more than anything.

Honestly, WTF? It is a basketball game for God’s sake not the Ukrainian War or the Middle East Conflict. Enjoy the competition. Win or lose, it is totally unimportant.

Boston actually plays a more enjoyable form of basketball than the Knicks with much better ball movement and a more egalitarian system.

Oh Bob, that’s just a silly take. I just sent three Ukrainians back to Kyiv last week (no, I don’t work for ICE, it was a study tour). And I worked on and off for 12 years in Afghanistan. I know the difference between real and perceived stress. The head and the heart are not always aligned.

Gonna be a tough watch, always a tougher watch for me on TV than in the arena.

I actually have alot of confidence that the Knicks could win Game 7 at Boston but I prefer not to test that faith.

It’s good, though, because it’s unlikely that two 4 seeds will make the finals, so hopefully it means that the #3 seed Knicks will, instead.

This is worse than everyone else here treating Vegas odds as predictions.

And I worked on and off for 12 years in Afghanistan. I know the difference between real and perceived stress. The head and the heart are not always aligned.

    Amen, brother

I actually have alot of confidence that the Knicks could win Game 7 at Boston but I prefer not to test that faith.

I actually have more confidence that we’ll win game 7 than game 6. Probably just recency bias from the Detroit and Philly series.

For the record I have no problem watching the game. The ticket was just really expensive and I woke up fearing the possibility of watching another Game 5 vs Detroit. Or worse, another Game 5 vs Philly. Not worth it for the price of a jaunt to Lisbon.

greetings from sort of sunny so cal…

the other day was walking the dog and the sky looked sooooo blue, with big fluffy white clouds in the sky…

the air is brown now…was driving along on interstate 10 out here in the inland empire, and it looks, pretty brown, all around…

    all is well though 😊

I watched the first episode of that hilarious “award-winning comedy” The Bear and was like who would want to subject themselves to this much stress for fun?

    So I didn’t watch episode 2.

    The end.

Can the Knicks starting lineup not put them in a double digit hole tonight? That’s my biggest question

We’re going to win this series. I just hope for my heart’s sake that we do it tonight.

Has everyone already given up? Today is our biggest game in 25 years and this place is deader than WizardsBlog in March

We all gird our loins for battle in our own way.

Gird our loins has always struck me as one of the most ridiculous phrases in the English language. I should probably use it more.

Geo, “I’ve got the Deuce-Deuce in the trunk of my car”????

I don’t understand how he has my characteristic opening game thread chant in the trunk of his car…

Pags, it means you’ve finally won.

And Owen, I stopped using ‘gird my loins’ as many people no longer know the phrase and you get some serious negative stares now when you say it. Misinterpretation is rampant.

Has everyone already given up? Today is our biggest game in 25 years and this place is deader than WizardsBlog in March

It’s been weirdly dead here since the day after game 4.

Pags, it means you’ve finally won.

What did I win, Raven? I’m not on some Doogie-esque quest to smother the board in banality. I like reading everyone’s takes here and anyone scared away by my one post of doom & gloom is even less of a ‘real fan’ than I am.

That some games will actually be stressful is the price we pay for having a good team that plays in high-stakes games. It’s a decidedly new phenomenon for me—outside of a few odd years here and there my pre-Brunson Knicks related stress was always draft related.

It can be rough, but I vastly prefer it to the alternative. Maybe just maybe one day we’ll actually win the whole damn thing.

Or maybe not, but I still enjoy the prospect of important Knicks games.

It’s been weirdly dead here since the day after game 4.

No one wants to poke the gods.

I really feel like they need to win tonight. Dropping two in a row will make them emotionally and psychologically crash. Every needs to put up tonight and I want to see KAT and Mitch out there together a lot.
