2024-25 Game Thread: Knicks @ Wolves

A game that started so late Cronin fell asleep.

Hopefully the challenge trade will inspire Randle and Towns to make this an entertaining game

Brunson really does add defensive value with his charges but I don’t know if it’s worth how terrified they make me every damn time.

I was prepared to start the thread earlier, but then I saw they pushed the time, so I waited and…oops. Sorry about that!

Great strategy by the Wolves playing an extended stretch with both Ant and Randle on the bench.

i like Randle the person but even in a good game there’s a lot I don’t miss about Randle the basketball player

Don’t want to Cronin this but might be time to switch to Women’s Volleyball.

The bad turnovers, and precious having butter finger hands is the only reason the Knicks aren’t up by 40.

Big blue Al beat me to it. And yes seemed liked streakers. To bad they cut away……..

It may be that the defense is going to have some trouble with teams that have a small super quick scoring PG (like Trae) but be fine otherwise. So maybe on those nights we need to use Deuce more as the POA defender.

Gobert and Ant have been complete non-factors so far, defensive effort is looking good, I like this a lot.

Good game in SA. Wemby is a few years away from GOAT status. Should have it by 2034 or so.

In all seriousness that was an amazing 2nd quarter by the Knicks, incredibly fun to watch.

Brunson seems to be lacking something this year. I can’t put my finger on it. Stats are still there. But he feels off. Maybe nursing an injury. I know he had the back thing earlier. But again not sure.

The thing I really like about this offense is that if one of their weapons has a bad game or even series of bad games there are so many other weapons it just doesn’t seem to matter that much. Almost everyone has had a period when they weren’t shooting well or seemed a bit off but it didn’t have a huge impact. OG hasn’t been shooting well for awhile but you hardly notice it because now Mikal is playing well and OG continues to defend.

This game is really cementing both my “we should sell high on Josh Hart” opinion and my “I think Bridges would look a lot better without Hart cannibalizing his opportunities” take.

Hart for a quality two-way big fixes almost everything, I think.

It’s hard to complain, but I think the offense has struggled a bit when Precious is on the floor with KAT.

Jalen seems off, but is still having a decent game. KAT with a good game despite a bunch of TOs. You can usually pencil those guys in for what they’re doing tonight, so it’s about Bridges/OG stepping up.

I admire Julius’ heart, but KAT is a million times better.

Big question: would MJ have ever, ever had a game like this from Ant? Edwards is so overrated.

OG, Brunson and Precious are a combined 12-28 and it doesn’t even matter.

Man, the Wolves probably should have traded Gobert rather than KAT.

104-74 end of the third. Wow.

Edit: still doesn’t mean anyone is getting any rest until the last couple minutes….

Jamal said it perfectly, KAT is dominating but completely in rhythm, not taking anything away from his teammates or forcing shots, incredible to watch… it also helps that he’s capable of hitting every shot on the court I guess.

I know they’ve been winning lately but the vibes seem rancid on this Wolves team…

I mean I’m at a loss for words right now, what an incredible performance by the Knicks.

Say what you will about the Bridges trade, but we absolutely hosed Minnesota on the KAT trade. Just wow.

I bet the Wolves could have got a ton for Edwards. I might have traded him instead of Towns.

Really gotta get KAT outta there…

Dude, there’s almost 10 minutes left! That lead is surmountable even in 5. I would pull them then, though.

Edit: well, you got your wish – the Dadier express is in. Here comes 20 shots from Cam in just 8 minutes….

The bench is on the court!

You guys won’t even have the minutes to complain about tomorrow!

I knew as soon as Randle was huffing and puffing from his hot start we were going to win… Karma is a bitch.

I think best win of the season?

Over the last 5 games Mikal is averaging 22ppg, 3.5apg, shooting 42% from 3, and to the eye test, playing very solid D. If he keeps doing that and Mitch can give 20mpg at a level similar to where he was, I do think we’re legit.

This was a super-impressive road performance against a good, healthy team that should have been highly motivated to kick our asses.

It’s also just one game so I’m not going to get giddy or draw sweeping conclusions, but that was truly awesome to behold.

It also raises the question of whether Hart is more valuable as a bench player and KAT is better with another legit defensive big on the floor. Precious at the 4 (or 5) pushed OG to the 3 and Mikal to the 2, which I think is our best way forward.

That’s what I’ve been saying for the last few weeks, but imo Precious is not the right guy because we’d be sacrificing spacing. Today it didn’t matter much because we were hitting everything, but it will long term.

We want a PF with some size, that defends inside and rebounds. He doesn’t have to be a scorer or elite 3 point shooter. He can be kind of like Josh Hart but bigger. So he won’t necessarily cost a fortune. If we can get a player like that without disrupting the current core (maybe using Mitch plus) we’d be in the top 3 teams and a serious threat to beat the other 2.

I didn’t get to see this one, but it seems from the comments here like this was more than just a game where the shots fell. Mikal’s box score is very pretty and there are some good reviews here about his defense as well.

Encouraging.

I don’t root for the knicks, but I must say I don’t mind when they drive E away with good play.

I saw some of the game. I was on a long phone call for most of the first half. The Knicks’ offense just looked unstoppable for some sections and Minnesota couldn’t keep up. Finch put in his bench with like seven or eight minutes left. Amazingly Thibs put his bench in too just a minute later.

It was nice seeing Dadiet and Kolek play but they didn’t do anything to distinguish themselves. On Minnesota’s part, DDV seemed to get his game going at the end and snd Minott was impressive off the bench.

Julius is obviously a booscopic person, and not at a good place there, got booed every time after a miss. He was the only one that was not totaly atrocious on that team. Rudy with a monster -1,7 pts/minute. Ant is an all- time hype, one MJ like move a game that gets everybody a boner and four kids a year. Feel bad for Boolius comming from a no bulshit team to this clown show in Minessota.
Ok, Naz, McDaniels, Conley and others are no clowns…but those two top dogs can not be serious. And now it’s all Julius’s fault.
Kat on the opposite is in a perfect place. His play is a very nice surprise to me.
