Been silent because to me we’re still contenders, i there’s no point in debating it after a tough loss (it’s just one game, you know? but it gets exacerbated…). What i find funny is certain posters (are they Knicks fans at all?) being happy that maybe we’re not contenders after all. I guess they’re more fans of being right than Knicks fans.
Knicks need a quick response with status as serious title contenders already slipping away
I mean, come the fuck on with that headline, right?
Exactly!
I wonder where jimmy butler lands after he’s traded – anyone have any guesses on where he might be headed?
If it’d be the Knicks, KB would explode! 😀
on dvd – in the whole wide world, literally there’s only this one copy i can find anywhere at the moment, from someone in australia…
oh well…watch party at my house gentlemen, mmmmmm yum, imagine the good food we could cook to prep for that viewing 🙂
That would be lovely, Geo, on my way to airport now… 😉 …gotta learn how to make Portuguese Custard Pies to help with the (good) food! 🙂
Imagine if we went all in on Jalens and had Brunson, Johnson, and Williams.
What about a All time 1st Name Team debate? Are there Michaels to go with Jordan? If we have to go with Beasley that team would never win it because Jordan would be ejected after punching Beasley in the face for his defensive effort! 😀
Note: Sorry for the posting spree, but i was out all day yesterday. 😛
Cyber, I think Michael/Mike is good, since you would have Jordan, Conley, Cooper, Adams, Bibby, Dunleavy, and a bunch of others. Beasley would be a deep bench guy.
That said: an all-Kevin team would start Durant, McHale, Garnett, Johnson, and either Love or Willis, and have a pretty solid bench. And William/Bill would get you a bunch of big men, including Russell, Walton, and Laimbeer, plus Bill Sherman and Billy Cunningham. (Wilt and Willis don’t qualify.)
Was going to ask, but saw that NBA.com has us playing Sunday at 6 pm EST. For those like me who long ago gave up trying to make sense of this cup silliness.
Was going to ask, but saw that NBA.com has us playing Sunday at 6 pm EST. For those like me who long ago gave up trying to make sense of this cup silliness.
Adding to the silliness: despite winning our group (and beating the Magic in the process) we’re going to play IN Orlando.
Just a great way to reward teams, thank you Mr. Silver.
(we’re lucky ORL is missing Paolo and Franz, but it’s still silly).
good bit of rest for our guys…jalen really seemed to need it…
and, because it is a glorious saturday in the month of december:
Go Army, Beat Navy
😊
Random multi-sport thoughts on a slow Saturday (hi geo…):
Belichick coached in the NFL for 49 years. That’s a long time.
Embiid out again with a sinus fracture. Dislike him, but man he can’t get a break.
Wright to be voted into Mets Hall of Fame, deservedly so. Other members (and the question who’s missing, also why is Gil listed twice):
Willie Mays, Tom Seaver, Darryl Strawberry, Gil Hodges, Mike Piazza, Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Jerry Koosman, Keith Hernandez and Dwight Gooden
Embiid out again with a sinus fracture. Dislike him, but man he can’t get a break.
Well deserved, best sportnews of yesterday’s bunch, next time focus on his knees…
I believe we can handle a few divergent thoughts once in a while raven…heck, we might even be the better for it…
was reading the follow up on the soto signing…
so, not only is mister cohen incredibly wealthy – he kind of also seems to be a cool guy whom gets along with others…
dem bum dodgers in the NL better watch out, the mets are coming…
hmmmmm cyber, not sure if the tarts are like the pies, but Costco does seem to sell Portuguese Tarts (made in australia)…
those look pretty darn yummy…I think I may be a bit hungry…FOOOOOD!!!
You may have an unhealthy relationship with food if you get that excited about it. It’s OK; so do I, but on the other side of the equation.
“other side of the equation” whatcha mean sir?
my vice is sugar, and its many many forms…
I crave it – a lot…it’s like jet fuel for my anxiety…
That said: an all-Kevin team would start Durant, McHale, Garnett, Johnson, and either Love or Willis, and have a pretty solid bench
I think you nailed it with this one. I can’t imagine there’s a better team than the Kevin’s.
Now, does KAT play with other Karls or do they need to be Karl-Anthonys?
hmmmmm cyber, not sure if the tarts are like the pies, but Costco does seem to sell Portuguese Tarts (made in australia)…
those look pretty darn yummy…I think I may be a bit hungry…FOOOOOD!!!
LOL! 😀
And after reading your comment i’m a bit hungry too, Geo… 😉 😛
Team of Kevins look very strong, Alan. Too bad for Kareem and Kobe, they can’t even field a starting 5.
Now, does KAT play with other Karls or do they need to be Karl-Anthonys?
Karl-Anthony Towns, Karl Malone… and then what? 😛
my vice is sugar, and its many many forms…
Sugar is literally the worst thing you can ingest. Table sugar is half glucose/half fructose. High fructose corn syrup (the sweetener in most processed foods) is 55% fructose and 45% glucose.
Glucose and be metabolized by every tissue in the body but fructose is primarily metabolized in the liver and some in the small intestine.
Excess fructose is converted by the liver to fat where some is stored in the liver itself causing NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) and the rest ferried by VLDL particles to adiposites where it is stored. This is the driving force behind cardiovascular disease.
Lay off the sugar in all its forms if you like living without disabilities. RFK, Jr is a loon about a bunch of things… but he is correct about sugar.
Baller move would be for the Mets to sign Bregman AND Alonso. Then you rotate Bregman and Vientos at 1B, and Vientos and Alonso at 1B, with the odd man out playing DH for the day.
Nimmo LF
Soto RF
Lindor SS
Vientos DH
Alonso 1B
Bregman 3B
Alvarez C
McNeil 2B
Taylor/Siri CF
That’s so much hitting from 1-7 that you can live with McNeil and the Taylor/Siri platoon in the 8-9 slots. Plus you have some kids in the high minors that might be able to take over CF and 2B before too long.
I guess you’d still need some pitching but hey, it ain’t my money.
Who would win in a game of 2-on-2, the Kareems or the LeBrons?
Karl-Anthony Towns, Karl Malone… and then what?
Karlmelo Anthony.
If you go with Nikola, you’ve got
Jovic
Vukovic
Jokic
Pekovic
Tskitishvili
Stauskas
Amazingly, only Stauskas is under 6’10”, at 6’6″. I suppose Jokic is your point guard in this lineup. Some serious rim protection, at least…
(And okay, Tskitishvili is really a Nikoloz…)
I hear B Ball Paul is available. Not sure what happened there but I loved him in Philly
Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Mason, Anthony Peeler, and Anthony, Carmelo is a solid starting five. If Anfernee Hardaway’s parent’s knew how to spell, they’d be unstoppable. (Where was Doogie when they needed him?)
I think we could sign Reed, but it would be our absolute last bite at the apple signings wise. In other words, no Landry Shamet.
I’d consider it a no-brainer in the pre-apron(s) era, but now it’s actually something of a high-risk proposition.
I’m still bummed about losing Soto to the Mets.
Then again, Soto going to the Mets is by far the best outcome that didn’t involve resigning.
Dude just brought so much positive energy last year to an otherwise kinda stale Yankee lineup. Fried and Williams are nice adds but somebody’s going to have to hit next to Judge.
Speaking of missing positive energy, I miss Hartenstein. Still can’t get behind OKC – just don’t enjoy SGA or Williams as players. Maybe I’ll change my tune when they beat the Celtics in the Finals.
I’m watching Atlanta Milwaukee. For some reason I find myself rooting for the Hawks. Maybe I like Doc Less than Trae.
Also, Twitter says the Yankees are negotiating to trade for Cody Bellingham. Any comments?
FROM SHAMS:
76ers: Jared McCain has suffered a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee. He will undergo surgery and is out indefinitely.
Also, Twitter says the Yankees are negotiating to trade for Cody Bellingham. Any comments?
I like it a lot better if he’s being brought in to play 1B and we’re still looking out outfielders.
So of course the National broadcast keeps shrinking the picture so they can show an inset of Doc staring at the game. Why?
Cody Bellinger is a decent “buy low” option, one year removed from a very nice season with the Cubs which is sandwiched by a bunch of “meh” seasons. He has a bad contract (2/52 remaining) which the Yankees are trying to get the Cubs to eat some of.
I don’t love his batted ball profile, as his EV, barrel rate, and hard hit percentage are all down fairly substantially from his Dodger years when he was an elite hitter. He’s a 2-3 WAR player most likely over the next couple of years.
That McCain news is a drag. He was annoying to play against, but I liked his game. That franchise is cursed.
If you go with Nikola, you’ve got
Jovic
Vukovic
Jokic
Pekovic
Tskitishvili
Stauskas
Amazingly, only Stauskas is under 6’10”, at 6’6″. I suppose Jokic is your point guard in this lineup. Some serious rim protection, at least…

Nikola Topic was drafted 12th this year. I believe he’s injured. He’s a 6’6″ PG.
Give it a decade and Nikola may very well be the answer.
Cody Bellinger is a decent “buy low” option, one year removed from a very nice season with the Cubs which is sandwiched by a bunch of “meh” seasons.
I don’t know enough about this guy to make an informed opinion. MVP in 19. 20/21/22 = God awful and I mean awful. 23 batted almost 100 points higher. Last year meh.
WTF is going on?
I- Hart said he would’ve knocked Trae Young out. Now I want him back.
Bellinger would be a solid pick up. His bat would play well at Yankee Stadium. They could play him in Left Field or 1B.
There’s a price at which Bellinger makes sense, as is true for just about anyone, but I’d be very underwhelmed with him as our primary offensive addition. Even in his bounce back 2023, the batted ball data indicated he was pretty lucky, and sure enough his 2024 was mediocre.
His versatility is a plus and you can always dream on him returning to form–he’s not yet 30–so I’m not all the way out. But I’d consider him a salary dump and nothing more.
my first thought on what isaiah said about trae was: how tall is isaiah, how much does he weigh…wonder what he would have said if clint capela did it, not that clint capela would ever do something so annoying…
something to be said for gamesmanship…trae’s got it, whatever it is exactly…
jalen said it best: don’t be a loser, best way to avoid the situation…
truth is, when it comes to sports – especially team sports – everyone loses…
easy to win, hard to lose…
losing happens though, best to learn to deal with it, in maybe not so vocal a manner…
otherwise you end up like that crazy guy outside shea stadium late at night screaming in to a camera and going on about god knows what…
this hawks/bucks game is really good…
Cody can’t be any worse for the Yankees than his dad Clay was, granted he was just the 25th man on the roster. But bringing in a son of a player who got a ring during the Torre dynasty could at least bring good vibes!
Glucose and be metabolized by every tissue in the body but fructose is primarily metabolized in the liver and some in the small intestine.
Excess fructose is converted by the liver to fat where some is stored in the liver itself causing NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) and the rest ferried by VLDL particles to adiposites where it is stored.
hmmmm, maybe shoulda kept the cocaine and just gave up on drinking whole milk and soda…
i love it when you talk all sciency like that Bob…it works, i hear ya…
i try to review my eating habits and food purchases every few weeks – and reset…
it’s funny, i seem to spend a lot of time in life: resetting…
on all kinds of shit…
i’m not letting kris throw the ball in…
edit: worked like a charm…
i don’t what the bucks schedule looks like the rest of the year, but yeah, we need to keep winning…
Owen, I agree it’s a great game. The Hawks got done open looks at the end but couldn’t hit them and now they have almost no chance to win.
My overall takeaway from this game is the the East is significantly tougher now that Milwaukee and Atlanta are playing so much better than they did at the beginning of the season.
Forever Fuck Trae Young.
Houston/OKC should be interesting, the Rockets have some guys who at least on paper could give SGA problems and OKC doesn’t really have many other ball handlers. I don’t know if the Rockets can score at all on the Thunder though.
the neutral site thing is lacking a bit of energy…
I think the move would be to cut Matt Ryan and sign Reed and then find someone who will take Sims into cap space, throw cash or a 2nd round pick to sweeten the deal and then use that space to sign Shamet or Walker IV or Okeke or some other wing that shakes loose over the next couple months.
Reed is worth moving things around for. In my opinion, he is much better than Sims or Hukporti and better than Precious. He averages 4.1 stocks per 36 over his career and has been shooting a bit from 3 the last two years.
hmmmm, maybe shoulda kept the cocaine and just gave up on drinking whole milk and soda…
Whole milk isn’t a problem. Dietary lipids are ferried through the circulation by chylomicrons made in the cells of the small intestine. They have a shorter apolipoprotein than LDL particles and are much larger and less dense and therefore far less atherogenic because they are too big to easily get under the intima of arteries, especially the coronary arteries. Their half-life in the circulation is around an hour while the half life of LDL particles in in days.
Sugar is far more atherogenic than butter.
So Ihart played 33 minutes, scored 21 points on 12 shots and had 8 rebounds along with 2 assists and a block. Maybe he’s worth $30M a year.
IHart is good. So is Rule of Thirds in Greenpoint.
