As a Fournier booster, I particularly liked the shot of him explaining things to Julius on an iPad on the bench after getting shouted at multiple times.
We take WAY too many mediocre or bad 3s. Granted, the defense plays a part in that, but we have to improve the quality of our shots. The PG situation is part of the problem also, but it’s not just that. The ball and player movement is not good. Too much standing around and dribbling.

We need a real starting PG and a #1 option. Randle is very good player, but he CANNOT be the #1 option with the ball in his hands dribbling, going ISO etc.. down the stretch. He’s a #2 or #3 option. He’s not good enough, doesn’t have a high enough basketball IQ, and can’t take the heat in big impact moments. That all sound harsh, but it’s not. He’s a very good player. He just can’t be the best player on a good team. I’m sure on some level management and Thibs know that, but Randle does not. He tries to do way too much, partly because he has to. It’s extremely frustrating to watch as a fan. We have to use those excess picks. We need an upgrade. I can only take so much of watching Randle get stripped, driving into traffic, missing clutch free throws etc.. down the stretch.

The Bulls have a nice team. Not really contender though and they wont have a lot of roster flexibility if they max LaVine, but if I were a Bulls fan I’d be excited. Donovan is doing a nice job. DeRozan is a monster, Vuc is a problem (bad defender but still) and LaVine is primed to make the superstar leap. Caruso looks like Andre Igoudala 2.0 out there, what a brilliant pick-up at 4 years/$37 mill. And Donsumnu looks like a steal at #38.

I’m still holding my breath on DeRozan until the playoffs because that’s where he struggles throughout his whole career, he’s always been very good in the regular season. But the Bulls are clearly a pretty good team and at least we showed some fight, so there’s something positive to take away from another loss. It just sucks to have to resort to lowering our expectations like that.

I would absolutely love a legitimate second division in basketball but unfortunately that’s something the American public will never accept (and the owners and players and associations etc). The English championship division is one of the coolest leagues in Europe, so much tradition and competitiveness, but it does require a country full of centenary clubs across an entire pyramid system for it to work unfortunately.
No one has, the worst point differential before this game was a 68 point loss by the Heat against the Cavs in 91.

I feel for the OKC fans. It’s got to be seeming like a never ending rebuild to them at the moment.
I think it’s becoming increasingly likely that that we are not going to be in the top 6 without some luck.
It’a a nice wondering, but to be honest, I don’t think those 2 do as much for us as they are doing for CHI. Now that Randle isn’t shooting 3’s any more, he’s kind of occupying the same space DeRozan is occupying, and same with Caruso and RJ. We’d be a better team for sure, but the fit in CHI is seamless.
That doesn’t add up, Z-Man. The Bulls only have 4 guys in their rotation who shoot 3’s (Vucevic, Lavine, Ball, and White). And one of them (White) shoots them terribly (except when he plays us). DeRozan has seamlessly fit in everywhere he’s ever been, and would have been an incredible addition to our team (admittedly in hindsight; I probably would have been mad online the day we signed him like I was when we acquired Rose).
I’m not trying to pick at a scab, but Leon’s offseason is shaping up to be what the so-called pessimists thought it would be: unimaginative & unimpressive. On the other hand, Karnisovas is showing us what it could have been.
Another point about the seamlessness DeRozan:
Look at last night. Randle had a great game but was a mess at the end, like he often is. DeRozan is the total opposite of Randle. He’s calm, poised, and dependable. Rather than “occupy the same space”, I think DeRozan’s presence would provide exactly what Randle sorely lacks.
Alas, this is all imagination. But that’s the life of a Knicks’ fan. We get to imagine Mikal Bridges instead of Kevin Knox, DeMar DeRozan instead of Evan Fournier & Kemba Walker, Steph Curry instead of Jordan Hill, and so on.
This is what .500-ish mediocrity looks like and we’re fast approaching the point, if we’re not already there, where you are what your record says you are.
I’m really getting sick of Randle’s act. The turnovers and the heroball are bad enough, but the frustration and the stupidity and the openly bitching at teammates thing is getting real old. They’re not going anywhere until they take the ball out of his hands. And given his relentless “frustration” it’s now pretty clear that his playoff debacle last year was in some significant degree the product of a mental meltdown. There’s just no way you can build anything around that as the epicenter.
