Game Preview and Thread: Nets @ Knicks

New York Basketball is back! Erm, well, that might be a stretch. Although the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks are both playing well at this point in time. The Nets are a playoff lock, but the Knicks are still on the outside looking in. The Knicks are only one game out of the eight spot, so they really need to win this one. To get a better idea of what to expect out of the reborn Nets I brought in Tom Lorenzo of Nets Daily to preview tonight’s game. Things are going pretty well in Brooklyn in 2014. What’s …continue reading

As much as a feckless traveling violation in the fourth quarter served as a sad encapsulation of where Amar’e is at physically, there were a couple of seminal moment–a freight train-like offensive rebound and one-handed throw down, followed …continue reading

2013-14 Game Thread: Knicks @ Warriors

Well, the other night I said that the Knicks had to have a winning record on this West Coast trip to have a real shot at catching the Hawks for the #8 seed. So while the Phoenix loss was horrible, so long as they win tonight they will likely (hopefully?) have a winning record on this trip and they’ll have a real chance (the weird thing is that the Hawks are playing so poorly that even if the Knicks lose tonight, there’s no guarantee that the Knicks won’t still be right in the thick of the “race” for the 8th …continue reading

Knicks 88, Suns 112: 77 Signs of Suns-Induced Sadness

As this game was a meeting of two former Mike D’Antoni-orchestrated “Seven Seconds or Less” squads, and the Knicks are regular committers of all manner of defensive sins, it seemed fitting to call in the services of Detectives William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and David Mills (Brad Pitt) of Se7enĀ fame. Oh, and, during a timeout early in the evening, a Suns fan calmly banked in (no pun intended) a half-court jumper for ownership of a cool $77,777 cheque.
