2017-18 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Hornets

Man, this is a really long homestand. I like homestands, but when they’re this long this early, it just makes you think, “Crap, they’re going to have some crazy stretches later in the year, aren’t they?” Anyhow, the Knicks host the Charlotte Hornets in a big matchup in terms of figuring out how good this particular Knicks team is, or perhaps, most importantly, just how good is Frank Ntilikina on defense? We know he’s good and even if he does poorly tonight, he’ll likely continue to be good, but if he dominates Kemba Walker tonight? Then holy crap, that would …continue reading

Knicks Improvement Due to Defense

This year the Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingis has been greeted by his adoring fans with chants of “MVP!” It’s not entirely without merit as Porzingis is second in the league’s most important MVP category — points per game. Realistically there’s little chance he’ll be among the top 5 this year, as LeBron James, James Harden, Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Russell Westbrook will likely surpass the Latvian in votes. With 5 wins and 4 losses, the Knicks are out-performing all but the most optimistic expectations thus far. The common reason to explain the team’s improvement is the Unicorn’s scoring increase. Porzingis …continue reading

(Monday, November 06, 2017 12:29:20 AM) The way the Knicks have played recently, it’s hard to question Jeff Hornacek’s rotations, although fans probably wish he would play second-year center Willy Hernangomez more. Knicks 108 Pacers 101: KIDS INCORPORATED!

Porzingis with 40 points and 6 blocks. Frank Ntilikina playing the fourth quarter, hitting two treys, and poking the ball away from the Pacers at will. WOW! If this is a glimpse at the future, I need a DeLorean. On second thought, I’m fine with the journey at normal speed.

2017-18 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Pacers

Tonight is a very nice test for the Knicks. The Suns were a surprising 4-4 when the Knicks beat them, but they were getting it done with smoke and mirrors, as they had the third-worst SRS in the NBA. The Knicks are currently about middle of the road in SRS (they still have a negative SRS, but they’ve obviously been improving as of late). The Pacers, though, have a positive SRS, so this will be a real test to measure the Knicks’ improvement. The two players that the Pacers got for Paul George, Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, have been …continue reading
