2016-17 Game Thread: Knicks vs. Raptors

I thought that this was a national game. My bad!

The Knicks are annoyingly winning right now.

Let’s go? Knicks!

I jokingly predicted 34 wins… I’m really starting to get afraid that all the “the Knicks welcome Miles Bridges” jokes will come true.

come on, they beat the fucking Celtics without Lowry.

  2. Silky Johnson, Fleet Admiral of the Tank Armada

FWIW I think Bridges is going to be decent but yeah it’d be very Knicksy to drop to the position where he’s going to be picked

  3. Bruno Almeida

I mean, the way things are going, we might be dropping out of the Miles Bridges race… so welcome, Ivan Rabb!

  4. Bruno Almeida

    @18

this draft is super deep, so it’s not so much that the guys at the 12-14th range are bad, it’s just that I can’t see players like Rabb or Bridges becoming stars, so… still disappointing.

  5. Cock Jowles, All-In on Miles Bridges

Dude, Okafor has 6 turnovers and 5 fouls in 11 minutes. He could have been Admiral Tank.

  6. Bruno Almeida

part of me wants to believe Colangelo is actually a genius, and he traded Noel and kept Okafor because he wanted him to captain the tank after Embiid was done for the season.

it’s still Colangelo, but it’s working out!

  7. Bruno Almeida

Wally just said this game “has a playoff feel”.

any game without Clyde is a reeeal struggle.

  8. Accidentank 2017

Melo is out here looking like Kobe Bryant: The Drama in which Kobe misses 15 straight only to hit a gamewinner and be championed as clutch.

Billy is an oddly good-looking guy. Not that the other Knicks are bad looking, but the dude looks like a freakin’ model out there.

  10. Bruno Almeida

I hate more people involved in this game than it’s rational to expect out of any human being.

Wally, DeRozan, half of the Knicks roster, the entire front office.

PJ Tucker is making plays for the Knicks too, #reubwasrightallalong

It’s nuts how quickly he and Ibaka became their crunch lineup players.

    Why oddly ? Lol

He also looks like he can’t grow facial hair lol

    @58

the fact that Valanciunas has been glued to the bench in 4th quarters for Ibaka to play major minutes should be a punishable offense in Canada.

I can’t imagine being a Raptors fan and having to root for Iso-Demar. It’s such ugly basketball. If that dude just learned how to shoot a fucking three he’d be one of the best players in the NBA. How does a modern shooting guard not know how to shoot threes?!

  15. Brian Cronin Post author

Okay, now that was a hell of a play by Toronto. When DeRozan drives, I love him. It’s when he just isolates that he gets such boring to watch.

  16. JK47

how insane – i’m now as worried about the knicks losing games as i was them winning games…

When you want them to win, they lose.
When you want them to lose, they win.

    #Knicks

  17. Bruno Almeida

most Toronto fans I ever talked to think DeRozan is a better player than Lowry, Brian, so I would say they deserve it.

  18. Brian Cronin Post author

Raptors took back the two for one heh

Which was an amazing play call. Not many NBA coaches go for that right there. Good for Casey.

  19. geo

do you mean: “willy is hot” – or – “willy is hot”…

yeah ‘ol willy definitely fucking up expectations for what a male should look like for the rest of us normal male humans…

  20. Brian Cronin Post author

That was some of the shittiest defense I’ve ever seen on a guy like DeRozan. “Do you want to do anything you want, DeMar? Go ahead!” Just foul him, Rose, you asshole! You had a foul to give! I mean, I’m glad it happened, but still.

  21. Brian Cronin Post author

I’m torn on whether that was a good shot. He was wide open, but it was still a rushed deep three when you were down one. So I dunno.

  22. Bruno Almeida

I knew Derrick would come through in the clutch! I never doubted you baby, you are he captain in our hearts!!!!

  23. Brian Cronin Post author

    Melo the true tank commander

I don’t think you can get worse than Rose just letting DeMar do anything he wanted, even though the Knicks had a foul to give!!

  24. Bruno Almeida

now the real priority is not waiving Rose under any circumstances and keep playing him on their best guard every clutch situation.

  25. er

Hehheh the Knicks keep playing like this there will be some real bitching and complaining. Their upcoming schedule is full of scrubs that don’t have Derozan

  26. Bruno Almeida

well, you are already bitching about the bitching everytime er, so it’s not like it will be much different.

  27. Bruno Almeida

Kuz is a perfect fit for the field medic of the tank, we need role players to show up in the trenches.

  28. nicos

You can thank Jennings for this one. That Baker/Sasha lineup was brutal. Also, a healthy Lance Thomas is worth his salary- he blew it by switching off of DeRozen on that last play but he and Lee are the only non-bigs who defend at all. And now that his foot seems healthy he’s attacking closeouts like he did last year and at least getting to the line.

If Melo keeps this up, we’ll all finally love him as much as you do :)

  30. Philmelo

If Melo keeps this up, we’ll all finally love him as much as you do :)

I doubt that. We’re talking fanatical devotion here.

  31. Philmelo

We’re basically counting on Lee playing out of his mind. Soon that will stop. I ain’t worried a thang.

But Willy continues to be a double-double candidate night in and night out.

  32. er

I don’t even talk about melo. You are the fanatical ones that talk about him every post.

I wanted him to leave this god forsaken team 3 years ago.

I was just saying that the Knicks played well tonight for the most part. Melo has been balling and anytime he has a bad game…the erections come out. That’s your business, I jus laugh at the complaining if the Knicks play well. It’s sad

  33. Brian Cronin Post author

I love Horny’s response on why they didn’t foul. “I told them they could foul. They didn’t.” Ha! :)

  34. er

We’re basically counting on Lee playing out of his mind. Soon that will stop. I ain’t worried a thang.

Isn’t your fanatical devotee coming back next game?

  35. Philmelo

Isn’t your fanatical devotee coming back next game?

LOL. You’re so sore. No one mentioned him here. Don’t get mad because Smello stunk up another game.

  36. Philmelo

I love Horny’s response on why they didn’t foul. “I told them they could foul. They didn’t.” Ha! :)

I have a funny feeling this team doesn’t do a lot of what Horny coaches them to do.

  37. er

You are such a grating person. God bless the people who know you in real life.

Yes Ras , you got me. I’m so sore.

  38. Bruno Almeida

Mavs are getting a great W for the tank… Noel not playing much, but Seth Curry is wrecking the Heat.

  39. Bruno Almeida

Ben McLemore is having a .61o ts% in february starting for the Kings… maybe he could be had for cheap as a RFA in the summer, with Hield being the future for them? I feel it’s a legit improvement and not just a fluke.

  40. Philmelo

If Melo had missed that jumper against Philly we’d be one game out of 4th place right now.

He’s always holding us back from progressing.

  41. Bruno Almeida

the Wolves are killing the Kings right now… damn Philly will get a nice shot at a high pick anyway.

Minnesota winning is good for us tho.

  42. Brian Cronin Post author

I am about as down on Ben McLemore as you can get, but hey, who knows, maybe he really did all of sudden figure out how to shoot? Maybe? It seems much more likely that this a fluke, but hey, stranger things have happened! Lance Thomas, for instance, developed a three-ball out of nowhere. It happens sometimes on very rare occasions.

  43. Cock Jowles, All-In on Miles Bridges

Ben McLemore is like Allan Houston minus the good shooting.

that sounds like a fucking nightmare

  44. heavencent35

I know we are targeting a big name pg what about trying to deal and get Brandon Knight? He’s another dpcd today and I remember he has some good run in Milwaukee. He can also be flexible if we ever drafted a pg I also believe we can get him for cheap. Thoughts?

  45. Brian Cronin Post author

Brandon Knight is the kind of guy the Knicks probably should be signing, in general, due to the possibility that he has a bounceback season. However, he doesn’t seem like he’d be a particularly good mentor, so I’d pass on him in this specific situation (presuming that the Knicks draft one of the top PGs).
