Apropos of nothing and given I had some free time, looked at all 30 NBA head coaches. I was a bit surprised about 2 things. Without doing a deep dive like I did, off the top of your head:
-how many of the 30 do you think are ex-NBA players?
-of the ex-NBA players, how many played for the Knicks?
I would say 20 and 5 as a wild guess…
i dunno maybe half are ex players so 15 maybe three of those are oakaak
I was with Z-man and Doogie, thinking at least half were players. But no. But the majority of ex-players who are coaches played for the Knicks at some point.
There’s at least 2 who played for us during the Melo era, and… I’m not good at this.
i hope we’re counting chauncey billups who played around 20 games for us in the early 2010s he qualifies as oakaak
Not surprised a lot played for The Knicks.
We spent the first 2 decades of the 21st century being really bad for the most part and we cycled through A LOT of players at that time.
Fuckin’ Billups, man.
Blew out his knee in game one against the Celtics. We were winning that game until that happened. Got swept but we could have easily been up 2-0 and taken those dudes out that year.
Picking up Billups extension only to then amnesty him a few weeks later to get Chandler was one of the most short sighted moves of that era.
There were about 3 or 4 moves that Donnie made that in and of themselves weren’t catastrophic but basically knee capped that team from being a real contender. I always imagine a world where Donnie held firm and didn’t throw in Mozgov and Felton in the Melo trade and gave them Fields instead (who had high value at that time). I think Denver would have caved eventually and. Then we would have had a back up for Chandler and we could have amnesty’d STAT to get CP3. I think the prime CP3, Chandler and Melo trio would have been ridiculously good.

extra e the inimitable henry walker tddwtdd and jared jeffries all played in that game too
At one point I had really high hopes for Bill Walker, lol.
He started during Linsanity, if I remember, because Melo and Stat were both out.
walker was a decent shooter for us and i think shot almost 40 percent from 3 ahead of his time but he was only at about 14/5 per 36 for us if im going to have a walker id rather have kenny sky walker
For the ex-Knicks coaches, we go from the 1980s right through to the 2010s.
i can only think of kidd billups christie udoka doc and carlisle but feel like im missing someone
10 ex-players are coaches. 7 played for the Knicks.
then im right about missing one oakaak but i have no idea who it is i barely remembered that christie and udoka played for us as it is
billy donovan
Fuckin’ Billups, man.
thing i remember most about chauncy was him crossing half court and shooting the ball from really deep…
at the time logo shots were pretty rare, and definitely not in style, so it looked like a really bad shot every time he did that…
So yeah, whatever.
it really is whatever, deputy. The point made is that you don’t get to tell people what excites them (not Jalen sold more in NY which he should) no matter how ridiculous their titillatorious fancifilatory meanderings are. We all get boners for different things… but “sga is the epitome of unexciting basketball” is an absolutely bizarre wild take (I read – his fan wiring prefers strain over glide) but he did not say Brunson is the better player… That’s fine, and very Knicks-coded. Trauma makes its own aesthetics. So whatever. This is objectively as whatever as whatever gets.
Let’s say that you have the ability to take your most-hated KB regular and put them for one full year in any authentic Knicks jersey made since 2000, all waking hours outside of the workplace. That means every $20-cocktail-bar outing, every trip to the grocer, every first date, every special occasion has to include them wearing that jersey. Maybe a t-shirt under it, but never anything obscuring the name on the back.
Which Knick do you choose? Bonus points if you name the poster.
sorry jowles, my ability to follow instructions is maybe not so great…
not hated at all, not even a bit – i’d put owen though in a number 42 jersey (lance thomas)…not so spectacular, but excellent pedigree and just simply plays the game the right way…
Ruruland probably still goes on dates with his jersey on. Strat retired his Frank jersey years ago. Could be you but Faried never played for us.
deputy?
Maybe you should stick to vapid opining on airport bathrooms rather than on what posters get to or don’t get to tell other posters. Or whatever.
Mine would be Jowles. The Jersey would be Bargnani. Do I win?
probably, it sounded funny to me… I do like vapid. you’re definitely right about the telling people what to do part… you should feel free to tell people what excites them. you know, whatever.
You should feel free to express your opinion about the reasons someone gives regarding something that does or doesn’t excite them, and they should feel free to engage, tell you to fuck off, or ignore you.
The only one actually telling someone what to do or not do is you.
say less ordering donnie his rick brunson #9 blues right now
Obviously E with an RJ jersey…
See i was going to say E with a Cam Reddish jersey because then he would have to explain to random strangers all the time why he has a fucking cam reddish jersey.
Also, Jowles is your least favorite poster, Z? That seems harsh. Jowles rarely posts anymore.
2
fair enough, Z-man.
Can the KB merch store add one that says “incinerated pick” on the back 😉
1
That’s actually the reason, geo. I miss that sob.
I was going to write one last post trying to explain myself but it’s gone from vapid to stupid, so I’ll just go with your “ignore you” option, with maybe a small side of “fuck off.”

Whatever, deputy.
This jersey exercise would be a lot more fun if we traded for Gradey Dick.
deputy is a new and interesting appellation i like
It’s funny
Mine would be Jowles. The Jersey would be Bargnani. Do I win?
I would have expected Landry Fields, but even if his tenure as Atlanta’s GM flopped as hard as his career in Toronto did, he’s still got Elaine Alden Fields as a fallback. Something tells me he’s doing ok.
if it had to choose, and based off my extensive TV viewing experience – i might just choose being a deputy over being the sheriff…
I think I’d make good sidekick material…except of course when everyone would begin wondering aloud – hey, where the fuck did deputy geo disappear to…
I’m going with a monkey’s paw choice, E has to wear an RJ Barrett jersey because he will never be able to resist talking about him to everyone he ever meets
count me in as being as happy as a z-man to see you popping in from time to time…
hey, you’re getting old – any thoughts of little jowles?
elaine might be a pita
Happy birthday, Jowles!
Hey, I’m pt’s least favorite poster, woohoo! I’d like to thank the Pacers, and James Dolan, and everybody else who made this possible. And to my fellow nominees, work harder next time!
the pacers may very well not see 41 wins next year…
have fun rooting for that loser squad…pretty ugly gear too…
this shall be your curse for losing faith as a knick fan…
Wait, how many posters is Z-Man fighting with today? I can’t keep up.
I’m not gonna pick a poster, but I would choose a Cleanthony Early jersey just for laughs.
since we were talking about billups earlier today another jersey from that same time period would be that of anthony randolph even he shouldnt have to wear his own jersey
I like Doogie, but if I didn’t I would give him a Knicks 33 jersey with the name spelled “Ewnig”.
5
funny that youd givim that i actually have a signed ewing#33 myself given to me by my spouse
1
Donnie with an Obi Toppin jersey?
Tyson Chandler jersey for THCJ?
Although I don’t hate Donnie as a poster at all, so maybe it’s a poor suggestion.
I shot the sheriff, but i did not shot the deputy. Good reason to play deputy.

as a goof for someone to wear #13 NOAH…that would be lit…
Aldridge is ranking the best team off-seasons in the Athletic, and it’s a pretty terrible analysis. But worth reading to come upon players like this:
Rama, I did read this and agree it’s pretty bad. The criteria seem to be mostly did they get better in the off-season combined with a dash of did I (Aldridge) like their draft picks. For tanking teams getting better could just mean improving their future asset position. They only show the bottom ten teams so far. The Knicks are not there. The Lakers are, which surprised me. I don’t like them, but adding Ayton, having an in shape Doncic and coach continuity suggests they did really get better.
As for the Knicks, they are at least in the middle in this ranking and they should be. They didn’t do much, but they filled some holes on their bench, which was needed. That also replaced their coach and some of his staff. And even though I thought Thibs was good, Brown is also good and I like that the team made a full search for the best assistant coach candidates for his staff. We also have hopes of a full Mitch season. My verdict is yes, they improved, but not by a lot. That should put them in the middle of the rankings. What do you guys think, did the Knicks improve this off season?
yes for sure we have a bench now and last year we did not we also have a coach who cannot but help to try more things than our previous coach
sorry to say it but wnba is largely disappointing
Here are some reasons to believe that the Knicks have improved:
-more chemistry with top 7 with a year under their belts, especially true for Mikal and KAT
-Motivated to get farther than last year
-Mitch is starting the season healthy and seems to be working on the right things
-Brown is a new voice and should be more creative and flexible with lineups
-Deuce still has upside
-Yabu+Clarkson is a better 8/9 than Payne+Shamet
-Huk could be a better 3rd-4th string big than Precious or Sims
-Dadiet is a year older
-there is still at least one vet’s minimum spot to burn
And then there are the profiteroles at Sailor. Woof.
i dont know what profiteroles are or where sailor is maybe ill look them up
seems to be a joint near fort greene with french pastries and other junk
NotInNJ, I thought the Knicks ranking was fine, probably – need to see the rest to know – but a lot of others just seemed clueless. Again, I’ll wait to see the rest, but I’m not optimistic there’s anything intelligent there.
The top 10 is out, and yeah, it’s just as inane. Obviously some choices are fine, but OKC having the 8th best off-season? How is that? Also amusing is that somehow trades make both teams better, like the Magic and Grizz. Both sides won the Bane trade! Amazing.
