I think it’s pretty evident that (barring injury) our success will be very much dependent on Mikal playing to his contract. I think he is fully capable, and that Brown’s approach will help him get there.
Just please, no rebuilding your shooting form this summer, Mikal. Just work on getting your body prepared to get to the rim and fight over screens.
Poor Mikal. He has no control over who lives, who dies, who tells his story.
But history has its eyes on you…
(Okay, maybe he has a little control over who dies on screens…)
This is really the dog days of sports for me. Last night I ended up watching golf.
If we want MIkal to live up to his contract, we should tell OG to work on his handle all summer and become the solid 3rd option. That will take away some of the offensive burden from Mikal so he can focus his energy on defense.
We could also trade Brunson for a PG that’s at least not a chair on defense and free up OG and Mikal defensively so don’t get stuck guarding out of position every night and having to help on practically every play because Brunson got beat. That will save them some energy for offense.
It’s either that or accept our PG plays terrible defense and when Towns plays C (most valuable position on offense) he’s not suited to cleaning up the mistakes that occur (like Mitch) when Brunson gets beat and Bridges and Mikal are trying to cover for him.
hi KfniNJ…not sure if you have the espn + thing, or if you’re even in to it, last night though the UFC fight night was a real banger…
looked like a slasher film was going on inside the ring for a bunch of the fights…light on the grappling, heavy with the kicking and punching stuff…
great sport if you like that kind of stuff…
one of my all time favorite marvel titles is:
The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe
came out back in ’95…I remember at the time it sounded so absurd, cause like the Punisher has no special powers, other than being excessively angry and mean…no way could he wipe out the whole marvel umiverse – but he does…
it was also cool because it was one of the first books I remember reading which directly addressed the collateral damage from having “super powered” people around, good and bad…
basically some of either the avengers or x-men got in to a fight with some bad guys and accidently killed frank’s family…
and well, frank castle is just not that guy to mess with…
interesting perspective on the superhero stuff…
another comic from that period by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross called The Marvels did maybe the best ever at showing what if feels like for ordinary folks to encounter superheroes doing their superhero thing…
just finished season one of Netflix’s the punisher series – well exceeded all my expectations…actually pretty darn good, in particular the micro story line…
best scene of the season was seeing Micro in his tighty whities, classic stuff …
going through season 2 of Daredevil to see when jon bernthal first appears as frank castle…
sundays are made for doing whatever the heck you want…

Thanks geo, I’ve never watched boxing. Maybe I should try it. I did enjoy the golf though. I used to play some (though not for a of time now) snd it made me want to get on a course again some time. Of course I’d be terrible.
Well, they just crowned a new backgammon world champion so big day in sports for me….
@TheFrankIsola
Hornets assistant coach Chris Jent has emerged as the leading candidate to join Mike Brown’s Knicks staff as offensive coordinator. Jent, who played one season for the Knicks, recently coached the Hornets to the Summer League title.
Franky Ice now the lead Knicks news breaker
probably a wrong notion KfniNJ, but i’ve always seen golf as more a social activity…not really too much a solo dude just doing their thing – kind of thing…
kinda like bowling, fun enough alone, more suited though to social engagement…
do you enjoying walking KfniNJ?
you are so crazy mister owen 🙂
is there like a special channel for backgammon stuff, or was it streaming somewhere…is it something you can just listen to while doing other stuff, or do you have to watch them play to follow the “action”…
Chris Jent “played in 11 playoff games in 1994, thus giving him the rare distinction of having played in more career playoff-games than regular-season games in the NBA.”
Also was LeBron’s personal shooting coach in Cleveland. Otherwise a quite checkered, or at least varied, career. He is, however, 6’7″, so could fill in as a wing if we lose some guys to injury — shot .429 from three for his career (on 14 shots…).
Hey Geo, you can find it all on YouTube. They stream it all live but you can watch it later as well of course.
Backgammon matches are not the easiest watch if you aren’t a nerd about it but like crack for me.
Google Backgammon Galaxy on YouTube to find the videos. The final was a crazy crazy match. A total rookie who isn’t even a good player made it all the way to the final and had a huge lead on a terrific Finnish grandmaster but ended up losing in super dramatic fashion. Very fun.

Geo, you are 100% correct about golf being a social game. If I had a friend to play with who loved the game, I might be playing regularly. But just going by myself holds no appeal for me.
It has been estimated that the proportion of luck to skill in backgammon is approximately 80 to 20 in a single game.
been so long, since i’ve played any kind of board or card game…i do remember though it’s fast paced and allows for noobs to get lucky and win every once in a while…and it has dice to hold, shake and throw, always a gaming plus…i know i have a set somewhere in the house…
okay, watched a bit of the match, nice venue…started spacing out after a while though…
got a ping pong table i never use, foosball table never use, thinking about setting up a dart board, i’ll probably hardly ever use…
still do enjoy watching golf occasionally, even though i’ve never played…lots a pretty places to play, food/booze/drugs normally included…
there’s one of them big driving range things off the freeway not too far away…that kind of looks like a good time with friends…
especially if every one wore star trek unis…
if the yanks keep stinking like this, i may have to stay off espn, or at least un-favorite them…ugh…
I have to say I don’t remember Chris Jent at all
Well, they just crowned a new backgammon world champion so big day in sports for me….
Have you ever thought about participating?
I actually had a spot in the tournament this year through the NYC club but had to decline bc I would have had to give up my last two weeks of summer with the little guy. Might go next year, though, if the timing is better.
We sent 30 people, some did pretty well.
Sometimes it’s hard to recognize yourself when you look in the mirror, Bob. Having an honest conversation with a stranger takes work.
found this nice vid from the Beck show last week…i can hear myself yelling at the end 😛
about a 100 minute show for him…the first 70 or so was with the symphony, primarily all balladish material…never really thought of beck as a great singer, mostly a good pop singer, he sure did a whole lot of singing that night…
about halfway through the 70 minutes of relatively slow introspective and groovy stuff – out pops “the new pollution” – after a minute of so of folks getting their senses back from being lulled in to chill state, a rush towards the stage…dancing dancing, song ends, then he explains we might as well go back to our seats. more slow stuff to come…okay…
once the symphony left, got in to the pop rock hits…just looking around was also surprised at just how good some of the phone vids people around me were taking looked…
also, got to say hi to smurf (animal kingdom) down there…was having a burger and beer with miss doja doggie at the hotel food place and her and someone else (next to a star, i guess we are all someone else) sat next down next to us…she was super in to the dog, very confident, assertive, i like that…
threw me off a bit, cuz in the series, she was okayish looking, looked a heck of a lot better than just okay when i saw her…looked good, for any age…
the thing that stuck out to me, similar to seeing liev schreiber while at breakfast a while back, was just struck by how damn well groomed they both were – immaculately put together…
like even on my best day, i ain’t squeezing but maybe 70% out of my max looking good rating…they were both off the chart…
all the makeup and wardrobe time pays off i guess…
@IanBegley
Knicks have been in contact with Indiana assistant Mike Weinar to discuss a spot on Mike Brown’s coaching staff, per league sources familiar with the matter. Weinar has worked on Rick Carlisle’s staffs in Dallas and Indiana and is currently a candidate for an opening.
@SbondyNBA
As @ianbegley reported, the Knicks have talked to Pacers assistant Mike Weinar for their top assistant/offensive coordinator position. I’ve heard he’s a strong candidate for the position.
Wouldn’t mind anybody coming from the Carlisle system
Chris Jent is a name that was nowhere near my radar as I completely forgot about him. Interesting choice if we hire him though. Not one I’d have any issue with if O’Connor takes the Associate job as well. Seems like it would be a well rounded staff. Far cry from Borrego but not a bad choice, right?

I remember that one! Well not every detail, but I do remember it being so absurd and wildly entertaining. I’ve always wanted an animated feature based on that. Now that the MCU is dealing with a multiverse, cosmic gods, and celestials- maybe they should run one with Bernthal doing the voice acting. He’s so great as Frank Castle

Hubert,
Yeah, I heard Remy went with a bunch of people.
Just don’t have the bandwidth to get to Monte Carlo but it’s on my bucket list.
Played in January in the Met Open in Jersey City which is significantly easier to get to…

I like that Wunderhorse song. Never heard of them.
“This made me remember the old “You’ve got mail”. 😉
But it was a good idea, i’ve just replied to you. 🙂”
lol! And I just replied back!
Saw this re: Mikal’s defense. The comments are funny.

Seems like a good idea Educate. The need to take more three point shots feels like the rare consensus position.
I feel like it’s an Italian Beef summer.
