Yesterday it was too late for my (broken) european sleeping habits, but thanks Steveoh for another great story!
“Road beef” is now firmly in my vocabulary 😉
Let’s Go Knicks!
Good morning Max, I hope all is well all the KBer’s, especially Z-man, wherever you are.
Good morning GK and good gameday to all the KBers.
Please Z-man send us a note, we’re a little worried now.
Good morning Knickerblogger. Odds are against us but we will prevail. Let’s get this to game 7!
lol Z-man is just fine, guys, thanks for the concern! So after falling asleep on the midnight Metro North train after the game and luckily just barely waking up as the train was pulling into my station at 1 AM, woke up at the crack of dawn to take a 4 hour drive to my alma mater for a reunion with my old fraternity brothers.
Very proud of the boys for their spirited defense of home court, the vibe at MSG was fantastic and the after-game celebration on the street was truly epic. Other than the dumb fouls, KAT played a heroic game with a sore knee. Cap was unstoppable. Hali sucked. What more can you want?
Not sure how much of the game we will catch tonight amidst the festivities, I’m finding it hard to be all that optimistic but hey, we STILL here!
We have Z-man proof of life!
Basketball is funny… one crazy 10 foot bounce through the basket by Hali is the difference between the Knicks going for the close out tonight and Indy.
Today is a great day to be a Knicks fan.
I woke up looking forward to writing this post on this board.
Our beloved Knicks are playing in the ECF after 27 teams have been eliminated.
The Knicks injury report is empty. By contrast, Tony Bradlegy is questionable for tonight.
Thibs has found 9 players that he trusts to play meaningful minutes in this series.
On Thursday night, the Knicks won a game where they played great defense, but shot the ball poorly and made dumb turnovers (after being stingy in the first quarter). There is still room for improvement.
If the Knicks win tonight, they force a winner-take-all 7th game where we will have home court advantage.
As I have been saying throughout, I feel like Red at the end of The Shawshank Redemption. We are taking the next step on a long journey whose outcome is uncertain.
Let’s go Knicks.
Glad to have you back.
Z-man lives and so do the Knicks!
I’m keeping my expectations in check for tonight. We defended home court and extended the series. For me, that is enough. Anything that happens after game five is truly gravy for me. I expect Indy to come out hard tonight and I expect the refs to not call the game in our favor. But we’re still alive and that’s pretty fucking cool.
Also, just want to point out that even though Z-man and Hubs fight a lot on this blog it was Hubs yesterday that asked about zman multiple times yesterday.
This truly is a community that I’m grateful for. It’s not said enough.
I will continue to preach the three key fundamentals that give the Knicks the best opportunity to win tonight:
1. Avoid live-ball turnovers.
2. Get back on defense after made baskets.
3. Don’t allow easy back cuts for shots at the basket.
While simple, they are not easy against the Pacers’ relentless attempt to push the pace.
If the Knicks force the Pacers to execute half-court offense against a set defense, I like our chances.
I actually love Z-Man and everyone here. This has been a great year and I’m remarkably proud of the team & community. Last year I was bitter at the end bc I thought we had a championship team that lost in the second round. This year I think we have a second round team that is knocking on the door of the Finals. It’s a remarkable achievement, and I’d say it’s probably Thibs’ best work. Carlisle did pull his pants down in games 1 & 2 but he has picked them back up. Benching Cam & bringing in Landry & Delon was the opposite of everything we’ve come to expect. And in game 5 we looked as ready and prepared as we ever have in this postseason. The Hart business has been a problem but I wouldn’t be surprised if Josh finally rewards his unwavering faith in him tonight.
The whistle will be the bellwether. Jalen has not been getting the calls this series. It’s almost like the league sent out a memo before game 1. And Nesmith has been getting away with murder. Watch how that gets called in the 1Q. If it goes our way, it will be a great sign.
They have no answer for KAT. We have the two best players in the series, and we are beginning to realize it. He cannot keep committing these stupid fouls.
I think the Knicks win tonight. See you on Monday.
Like I said after the Knicks went up 2:0 against Boston, and Indiana over Cleveland, it’s finals or bust. Not going to be easy, but go get’em tonight!
While I agree with the sentiment, KAT has demonstrated over his entire career that he can (and will) “keep committing these stupid fouls.” If he simply eliminated them and committed to get back on defense after misses, KAT would be a Top 6 player (even with slow feet on defense).
I would love if KAT eliminated the stupid fouls, but it would pleasantly surprise me.
Let’s go Knicks.
Yeah I mean he’ll never change but he can have a good night. If he’s in foul trouble tonight we’re fucked.
Today is a great day for the Knicks to become road beef.
Is it weird that I’m scared of the Knicks winning tonight? It feels like they’re playing with my emotions lol. Anyways..I’m still excited for tonight’s game. In this series, we win when we have our heads in the game and play up to our regular season standards. Unfortunately, Indy has taken us out of our game for most of the series. If we can keep KAT aggressive and pissed, we win tonight. Even on a wobbly knee, they have no answer for him. And Brunson has figured out how to attack Indy, but he does look a little uncomfortable playing at the pace he needs to play at against them. Probably why he’s turning the ball over in the ways he has this series.
I’ll have to do some alarm clock magic tonight to watch it live and go to work early but I’m ready baby! These games are Why you follow a team.
Pure Excitement!
“Also, just want to point out that even though Z-man and Hubs fight a lot on this blog it was Hubs yesterday that asked about zman multiple times yesterday.”
“I actually love Z-Man and everyone here.”
Until the proof of life, I suspected that Hubert offed Z-man (partly in retaliation for Z-man mowing him down during the Atlanta series) and his posts were intended to divert suspicion elsewhere.
Nice to know Z-man is alive, Hubert has a heart, and we have a healthy 9 man rotation going into game 6 of the ECF. Come out of the gate strong and I am convinced there will be a decider at MSG.
I will not tempt the gods, so I’m not naming names or whatever, but I’m going to Levee bakery to grab a morning bun and a slice of carrot cake and a chocolate croissant and coffee with full on cream. Half and half should really be called weak cream.
Here’s a nice little thread to enjoy while we wait: athlete appearances (including two then-Knicks, some Mets, some Giants) on Sesame Street.
https://bsky.app/profile/lukeknox.me/post/3lqhzdo2qw223
Trigger warning: a former Knicks POBO also appears late in the thread.
I hate Bill Simmons so much. He’s already preemptively stating that the NBA will fix Game 6 and 7 in our favor to avoid a NBA Finals played between the Pacers and Thunder, two mid-market teams in middle America. Does anyone think this guy would even dare suggest this if it were his beloved Celtics who were down 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. This guy sucks so much.
Ras, the most annoying part of that bullshit narrative is that it obviously isn’t true. We are likely to lose tonight and once that happens we won’t hear another peep about this from Billo.
Simons has always been oozing pus about the Knicks, and now he can’t get over the fact that we sent his beloved Celtics packing. His attitude is childish and unprofessional, which is sad for a man of his age. I watched the first few minutes of his podcast after we beat Indiana in game 5 but stopped it after he insinuated that KAT’s knee injury was fake. Pathetic!
“One who lashes out at the innocent when their anger is stoked lack emotional regulation”
– Hubercius
FWIW I’ve listened to Simmons’ podcast a lot this spring and it’s been pretty good. I heard the two sections referenced above and it was obvious to anyone without a hate boner that he was joking about the fix being in for game 6. It’s part of a conspiracy bit he’s been doing for 20 years. And he did not actually suggest KAT was faking an injury.
Yeah, to be fair to Simmons (caveat, I know him a little bit and used to be on his podcast a few times a year), after the Tatum injury, he made a point of repeatedly saying on his podcast that the Knicks were going to win that game anyway, that they had outplayed us throughout the series. And when we won the series, he didn’t try to claim it was a fluky win based on Boston’s problems. He gave the Knicks credit. Like Hubert said, the conspiracy theorizing is a bit he’s been doing at least since he was first writing for ESPN’s Page 2.
Simmons’ exact words on Towns: “I’m not sure how bad the knee was because he was doing a lot of great stuff out there… I thought it effected his shot a little bit but when he was barreling to the basket it didn’t seem to matter.”
Pretty wild to interpret that as him suggesting he faked the injury.
KAT deserves all the jokes about how he limps like he is wounded in war on defense and then turns into a velociraptor when he gets the ball on offense
Plus one to Ephus’ keys. Even simple stuff. Like when you have a bad possession and are at the end of the shot clock, dont make the dumb pass. Just throw the ball at the rim and run back on defense as fast as you can. Play smart.
Not expecting a win but not losing in the Garden is a much better finish to the season.
Went to the gym just now and on the way out I looked at the TV and the Knicks were down against the Pacers near halftime and I almost had a heart attack. Fucking replays.
Still beaming that Huk had his 40 seconds of fame, however…
Owen, I’m with you. After the first two losses I had a bit of a sour taste in my mouth about how the season was ending, but I’m pretty Ephus about what happens next. If it ends tonight it was a wild, chaotic, but great ride.
But it better fucking not.
My main concern tonight is Indiana going crazy on their shooting, which seems to happen when their backs are against the wall.
That said, the Knicks are due a great shooting night too.
I won’t jinx it, but I’m feeling it for tonight, and there’s a chance I’ll be following it live since I’ll be awake.
Today is a great day to be a Knicks fan.
That’s the difficult thing being down 3-1. It only takes one game of bad shooting on our part or great shooting from them and you’re toast.
Fairly worried about that Tyrese fellow. He’s taken some serious (and seriously deserved) heat for the last game. He’s going to come out shooting flames. Hope Thibs has a plan that doesn’t leave all the other Pacers open…
I actually feel pretty good about it when Brett Baty comes to the plate now. Which is not a thing I ever thought I’d say
This is a game that could define the career for either Brunson or KAT.
Think Lebron @ Cetlcs in 2012 & 2018 @ vs Cleveland in 2016.
Go off for an efficient 40+ burger and clutch performance tonight and you’re an all time legend. Stage is perfectly set.
Curious to see if either player will look at this game as a once in a lifetime type opportunity to become a legend. We;ll know by the end of the 1st quarter.
It’s about a decade since Zach Lowe started calling our beloved Knicks the “Kazoos” because he was so committed to showing disdain for how MSG conducts itself. We’ve come a long way under Leon Rose. He could be to the Knicks what Glen Sather was to the Rangers.
We’ll see.
Let’s go Knicks!
This is the time.
Let’s bring the series back home!
Kind of echo-y in here…
Wearing my Willis Reed jersey under my college stuff!
put the puma clydes on too!
Hali once again being the worst wearing funeral black to the game.
Man’s never had an original thought in his life.
Also spitting in the face of the basketball gods again
Good outfit to be buried in.
Seem to remember when the Knicks wore funeral black it did not work out well for us.
It did for the Giants against the undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl 42, though.
