    1. knicks give #1 jersey (Amare) to Shved. They should have held the number for a while and eventually offered it to a really good player.
I don’t usually care about stuff like this, but Amare’s barely out the door, and #1 is a great number. This organization has it’s head up it’s ass.
Here’s how another NY team does it.
      #1 Billy Martin
      #2 Derek Jeter
      #3 Babe Ruth
      #4 Lou Gherig
      # 5 Joe Dimaggio etc etc

    2. I disagree, hoolahoop. Amare accomplished very little relative to his contract, and to protect his #1 would be hardly apropos. But don’t worry, Shved won’t be wearing it very long.

    3. Never mind holding on to Amar’e’s jersey number for a while– they should retire it. They should build a giant statue of Amar’e and put it in front of MSG, which should be re-named Amar’e Stoudemire Arena. The team should be renamed the New York Amar’es. The name of the sport should be changed from basketball to Amar’eball.
