    It’s pretty simple

I don’t see Mike Browns counter when the offense isn’t hitting its threes . You need to have a second style you can play through

Towns is playing better, but it’s going to come down to the wings. Bridges was invisible again after I gave him a pass for his no show against the Lakers. When him and OG play well the team looks dominant.

Alvarado is a mess. Bad shooting and no play making at all. I wouldn’t mind seeing Kolek get playing time again because Jose hasn’t been good since the Sixers game.

*also how does the bench go into a half with 0 points scored

    *Mathurin still killing this team

I only watched the last 4 minutes.

Not going to win a lot of games when Derrick Jones Jr outshoots Landry Shamet

Only one-half game from the #4 seed now. At least we’ll get to play the Raps, Magic, or Heat at home.

    Magic

The Magic are better than they look based on record and SRS. They’ve had a long of list of injuries almost the entire season. Their best player has missed a lot of time and is out now, but they still won 4 in a row. When/if Wagner comes back and they are healthy for 10-15 games in a row, they are not going to be an easy out in the playoffs.

The Jekyll and Hyde routine is getting old.

I agree this team needs to find another way to play when they aren’t hitting their 3’s. We can’t just hope they get hot in the playoffs. The defense is going to be ramped up by every team and we aren’t always going to be able to win that way.

I’ve definitely been disappointed with Alvie as of late. He started out pretty well for us but has tailed off quite substantially. I think he seems to play much better when Brunson is also on the floor with him than when he isn’t. That’s when he can do more point guard stuff.

Normally, I would tend to agree. However, even though he plays every game, he is not seeming to have high energy expenditure out there when he is on the floor.

Which is becoming more and more of a problem for us. I’ve defended him, but he’s beginning to lose me with his lackluster efforts.

Normally, I would tend to agree. However, even though he plays every game, he is not seeming to have high energy expenditure out there when he is on the floor.

Wouldn’t that point to him being tired?

Not necessarily. Only he knows if he is tired or if he is dogging it/avoiding any contact/avoiding doing anything more difficult than mid-range jumpers. It would probably look quite similar to us on the outside.

No matter what’s going on with Mikal now, imo we are the point where he has to get that iron man BS out of his system and take games off here or there to freshen up. I like his game a lot, but the in and out nature of his effort and performance is a problem. In the LA game I briefly thought he was hurt and was actually rooting for a minor injury that would keep him off the court for a couple of games so it would less of a big deal later. We need him playing hard and taking minor risks with his body just about every night to get the best out of him.

Just for the record, I can’t stomach Stephen A. Smith either…

I think Mikal’s game is just a lot of smoke and mirrors tbh. He’s efficient and above average in most measurables… but he just stays completely out of the fray unless he has a wide open shot or his little midrange. He’d be a great 7th man, but a 3rd option? Not so much.

Hopefully he’ll be part of a Giannis trade next year, but if not, I’d be happy to trade him for a PF and shooting depth.

When Mikal is good he’s pretty good and when he’s bad he’s invisible.

It’s a special ability to just completely do nothing on the court for entire games.

I am not out on Mikal. But he’s frustrating.

“Just for the record, I can’t stomach Stephen A. Smith either…”

Yeah, I didn’t watch the video for the same reason you are stating, but I almost wanted to change my stance just so I wouldn’t be in agreement with him anymore.

Mikal will be fine. This was just a brutal stretch that we antipipated with 5 games in 7 days. MB needs to lower starter minutes during these types of stretches next season.

Knicks will get a ~ week off before first playoff game during the play in tournament. They’ll be rested a ready to go.

No one really knows which seed is ideal other than 1st or 2nd which are pretty much booked at this point.

i could give a crap who says it…its the truth…the excuse making for this dude is over the top…his whole deal is to get some iron man record…he’ll keep shooting fadeaway jump shots until the cows come home to preserve that streak…

What BBAl said… 5 in 7…the game against Lakers started like a glacier and ended like mud wrestling.
Playing high octane defense can be draining. Brunson looks like he’s aged on this trip. Had a surprisingly good game against Clippers. He’s tough but he needs to under the radar-coast at times to survive fresher for playoffs.
Didn’t notice five firsts on that trip at all…what’s up with that dude?

Or, you know, maybe Mikal’s game is predicated on mid-range jump shots, like DeMar, and that has led him to go uninjured because it limits contact and other potentially dangerous plays.

Cause and effect. Actually comparing him to DeMar is weird, DeMar scores a LOT more and assists more, but Mikal is better at stocks, has a better overall FG%, absolutely kills on 3pters (.372 to .302), and has a massively better eFG%. Slightly higher bpm.

No real point to that musing. Maybe it’s that Mikal can be pretty good. But he does need to stop disappearing. Maybe having that asshole rant about it will help to get him focused.

I firmly blame super sexy cari champion for even knowing who the heck stephen smith and skip bayless are…mouths with a constant methane flow…

on a much much more pleasant note, good opportunity to put forth my all-time fave sportscasters:

    okay, maybe I have a type 😳

Stephen a is a human ragebait. I cannot imagine any other reason he’s an influencer.

Alvarado is a mess. Bad shooting and no play making at all. I wouldn’t mind seeing Kolek get playing time again because Jose hasn’t been good since the Sixers game.

Second me for this. Outside of our top 5-7 guys, the rest should just be rotated by either opponent if the coaching staff is going to take advantage of mismatches by designing plays/situations where the player can excel or by hot hand. And right now Alvarado is cold. Let him sit and give Kolek some run. Maybe that’ll light a fire under him a bit.

I guess the other thinking is to give him playing time so if he needs it he feels comfortable with the team. But then again if he’s picking up bad habits, vibes, or whatever it might be better to sit him for a spell and let him get his head on straight.

Also, getting Deuce back have playing Mitch 20+ minutes will make a huge difference in the playoffs.

    2

My two cents. The schedule is rough but the team got a little too cocky and complacent with smacking Denver like that and then having the weird start time/daylight’s saving in LA followed by a back to back…just kind of bad luck mixed with a bit of complacency. Plus, we are on the road and it is generally harder to win on the road than at home.

Whatever. Losing 2 in a row sucks but I don’t think the team has suddenly gotten cold or bad vibes or whatever. Now if we lose to UTAH…

Having Mitch play every game and play 25 minutes vs. 20 will make a massive difference.

Deuce…I don’t know. Was having a fantastic season before the injury, so just depends on how quickly he can get back to that form, it at all.

Jokic is the best player, and it’s amazing what the Thunder are doing without JWill, but I’d vote for Cade unless the Pistons completely collapse.

I’m not out on Mikal. When we need him to play at his best is in the playoffs, so for now i’ll give him a pass*.

    *but maybe it’s just because i didn’t watch the game 😛 😀

shai is sneaky smooth on both ends, joker’s the best offensive player in the league, by a wide shot…

cade though is something different, what luka doncic should be…team leader on both ends, can control the whole pace of the game almost single handedly…size, physicality, skill…

dang, cade may soon be one of my favorite players currently playing…

I find Wemby to be much more rootable than all three of those guys, for various reasons.

i feel the same way…i can’t stomach the guy anymore…

Well if Stephen A. calls it out, it must be true.

The problem with avoiding contact like the plague as Mikal is wont to do is all it takes is one bad shooting night for you to turn Ntilikinian levels of invisible. I’ve banged this drum a ton already and don’t want to belabor the point, so I’ll just briefly repeat that I don’t buy for one second that there’s any strategic genius to this approach–last season Mikal explicitly said he thought it would make him better in the playoffs, and then he shot like shit in the playoffs.

What’s weird is it’s brand new. Until his first season here, his FTr had always been average-to-good among wings. Then he arrived and promptly hit the 18th percentile in the category, followed by the 15th this season.

It is, IMO, the primary reason the trade has been underwhelming on our end. The impact a pure “hooper” has on offense is severely limited by math, and that’s true even of a good one like Mikal who hits a very impressive number of his FGA.

It’s not changing at this point, he’s clearly decided on it. I just wish he told Leon he was swearing off the free throw line before we sent over all the picks.

The best 2 way player in the league right now is Wemby. It’s not even close. He should win the MVP and DPOY.

He’s so dominant & he instills fear into every player. Everyone knows its not fair. Giannis said it during All-Star break and Jaylen Brown was the last player to admit this. The future is here now.

Since Wemby came back from the injury, – he’s only playing ~26 minutes a game and his team is 37:9. That’s a .770 winning percentage. He’s +363 in this span. Straight domination.

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/MrCIaE_E340

Psychologically Wemby owns him…and entire league.

    1

    just checked mikal’s stats’ page…looks like he’s having a decent year there…

wtf…wow, what have you done for me lately…we stopped kicking the KAT, we’ve now moved on to mauling mikal…

actually that’s kind of very funny…

you know, I know i would feel a whole better if he just took a day off from work every once in a while…it’s weird and creepy how he feels like he always gotta show up…give it a rest mikal…

Did anyone else catch this from ESPN?:
Free agent Taj Gibson agreed to a two-year deal to join the Memphis Grizzlies, his representative Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday.

At 40 years old, Gibson is back in the NBA for a 17th season. He is a player regarded as a consummate leader and professional.

feels like once it’s said, short of any health situation, it could be true for a decade or so…and, i’m sure there are some other young players ascending to or reaching their prime, maybe even a little past their prime that could win a championship –

but yep, victor wembanyama is pretty much the most impactful basketball player in the world, on both ends of the court…

not my favorite player though, yet…recently was antman for a while, depending on this year’s playoffs, might be cade soon…

It’ll be interesting to see the Celts’ defense against Wemby tonight. Not sure what Queta (sorry, cyber!) and Garza can do with him.

Cade will never make my list of favorite players. He bugs me almost as much as Jaylen Brown does.

Except much older now, and certainly not improving. Probably better than Fields, and definitely better than Cook. They might pick up Wentz, too. Geez.

Adebayo has 25 points in the first 10 minutes of the Heat game against the Wiz.

And Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade. Weird.

I wouldn’t mind Wemby putting a beating on Boston tonight… side note: although I hate the Celtics, I don’t particularly hate Tatum or Brown.

Still trying to confirm that the Crosby thing is real. Sorry if I reported news that ends up being unsubstantiated……..but I *am* seeing it elsewhere, too.

Maybe trying to get him 82 points so that he can be in second place all time ahead of Kobe. Dude’s been to the line 37 times.

Zero problem with him staying in the game, tanking teams should get embarrassed

LOL He needs one point to beat Kobe with 1:24 left. Want to see if the Wiz can prevent it. Hope they foul him and he misses the free throws.

EDIT: Nope. They fouled him, and he hit both. 83 points for Bam.

I think Bam taking 43 shots when no one else on his team has double-digit attempts is embarrassing tbh.

The Wizards openly tanking isn’t embarrassing?

The Heat were going to win this game anyway you slice it so why not have fun doing it

Bam attempted an NBA record 43 FTA making 36. Overall he shot 20 for 43 from the floor including 7 for 22 from 3pt. I repeat this might be the most embarrassing night in the history of the NBA.

Most importantly, look at the 3-6 playoff bracket right now. Imagine if the season ends like this. Lucky us!

It’s against the Wizards , although Spo running circles around Brown would be my biggest worry

The Heat have a brutal remaining schedule btw

Miami’s next 7 games after they play the crappy Bucks

    Magic @ Home
    Hornets 🐝 on the road
    Lakers at home
    Rockets on the road
    Spurs at home
    Cavs on the road twice

Spurs would be on a 17 game win streak, – if it wasn’t for Mikal Bridges.

My guess is that Bam Adebayo has a terminal illness and tonight was farewell night at Kaseya.

He doubled his career high while shooting ten points lower than his career FG%.

    It’s the only explanation.

    So sad.

    1

If I was a player on the floor in the 4th quarter for Washington, – I would have tried to hurt Bam and/or cheap shot swing at him when he’s not looking.

Either he would have went into locker room injured or Spoelstra would have yanked him after this. I would have made history instead of him.

I’m glad that this generation of kids has less foolish pride than mine did. I think…
