    Well said, geo.

Okay, I’ll get things rolling with a few interesting Macri quotes, starting with everyone’s favorite pinata, KAT:

“…in the eight games since All-Star weekend, KAT is shooting 61.2 percent from the field and 52.2 percent from deep compared to 46.6 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from deep before the break. His efficiency differential has continued to rise, and is now tied with Deuce as best on the team among year-long rotation players at +8.1 points per 100 possessions.

The downside: his threes have gone down even more, from 4.5 attempts per game before the break – already his lowest since the ‘17-18 season – to 2.9 since. That drop has accounted for almost all of his overall decrease in shots since All-Star, from 14.0 to 12.3.”

Then, about the starting lineup, he lauds their defensive rating, that would rank second in the league, but he notes this:

“At the same time, their offensive rating in the first halves of games would rank dead last in basketball. That’s obviously an issue, but as we see from the second half numbers, this group is clearly capable of positive offensive production.”

Basically Jekyll and Hyde performances, for no good reason. Macri provides various hypotheses, none obviously the answer, ditto possible solutions, also no good ones.

Their offense has not been good over the recent winning stretch. Their defense has been otherworldly (2nd to SAS in the last 10 games, I think 1st overall over the last 20 game stretch). I think the starting lineup is basically the main issue (haven’t looked at the data though), but the question is whether, say, replacing Hart for Shamet or Deuce will make their defense regress. They should be better than 12th in offense, which they’ve been in the last 10 games (looking at Goldsberry’s weekly graph).

geo on a roll (or a bun) today. Don’t know whether or not it’s baked, but it’s still kinda early out there in Bakersfield.

good morning doogie sir, hope your friday is starting off magnificently well…

had a good buddy who worked in Barstow for GM for a couple of years, always imagined he must have been serving a penance for some kind of transgression against god…

when my friend moved back to cali from the east coast a couple of years ago mentioned to her how great it was for her to settle back around san jose – cuz, if it had been Barstow or Bakersfield she probably would not have seen me too much…

Edit: i do have some good music news to share, picked up a ticket to go hear seal sing in may…

    any upcoming shows for yourself?

Going to see Eilen Jewell on April 3. Been pitching Springsteen, Cowboy Junkies, Flip Orley (hypnotist/comedian), and Lake Street Drive to GF, but she’s got a lot of stuff going on this summer. Planning on pitching Junior Brown to her this weekend.

Jeez, can’t remember the last formal concert (modern music) that I’ve gone to. Well, Robert Cray played in a local venue a couple of years back, and I’ll drop in on bar bands now and again. Little Raven is the concert-goer these days, mostly for what I endearingly term Bad Trap Rap Crap, which I assume is god punishing me through my child for various youthful transgressions…

picked up a ticket to go hear seal sing in may…

Weird, I’m just sitting in an airport and Seal came on, “Crazy,” and I was thinking I’ve got to add him to my playlist again…I lost interest at “Kiss in a Rose” or whatever, but that first album was great.

Meanwhile, I’m grateful that as part of all this travel I’ve stayed with old musician friends, so I’ve been going to gigs again. Kingston Mines last week, Stuart Copeland in a couple weeks (my old drummer is a friend of his, so I’ll get to hang out with them, looking forward to that). It feels like the world never quite started turning again after COVID… Guess we need to get out there and push a bit …

    Expected Lineup
    PG Jalen Brunson
    SG J. Hart Ques
    SF Mikal Bridges
    PF OG Anunoby
    C K. Towns

    MAY NOT PLAY
    F J. Hart Ques
    G M. McBride Out

    Expected Lineup
    PG Jamal Murray
    SG C. Braun
    SF C. Johnson Ques
    PF A. Gordon Ques
    C Nikola Jokic

    MAY NOT PLAY
    F A. Gordon Ques
    F C. Johnson Ques
    F S. Jones Ques
    F P. Watson Out

    Tatum not on injury report:
    Expected Lineup
    PG Derrick White
    SG B. Scheierman
    SF Jaylen Brown
    PF Jayson Tatum
    C Neemias Queta

    MAY NOT PLAY
    F J. Walsh Ques

So if Hart’s out, some of you may get your wish and see someone else in the starting lineup. I’d guess Shamet, but could be Mo D?

If that happens and the Knicks come out of the chute guns blazing, we’ll have our talking point for the rest of the week…

Well, at least until the Laker game on Sunday. 🙂

I’d actually prefer that Kook Moe Dee start over Shamet for the purposes of letting Shamet lead our bench scoring unit. But I could understand going either way with that decision.

I hope Diawara can up his rebounding skills. If he can do that, we’d *really* have something.

some voices carry, really well…seal can sing the phone book and my face will still express complete rapture…

only picked up a single ticket, got as close as possible…

not to be too picky – butt, it’s a casino venue so minus like 20 points off of what the show could be…

so far, I’ve hit on 2 locale/artist nirvanas: recently beck at the rady shell and by far the most spectacular to date, jerry cantrell at the pico union project…

the right artist at the right venue is like a religious experience, a holy ghost revival…

gotta check in with her, but sis has lived for live music since we were kids…so cool rama to be able to be inside it a bit…an interesting perspective to have…

last thing on that, big part of it for me is being amongst die hard fans stuck in joy mode, if they’re jumping around and dancing even better, great time to practice empathy…

also enjoy reading about you all attending games…goodness, maybe since attending college football games that i’ve been in a crowd of screaming sports’ fans…it’s cool to hear you all describe the experience when you attend 😊
