Pulling my inner Strat ™️ … 😀 …as i said in the offseason, having a Deuce breakout season would go a long way for us to be elite! And here we are! 🙂

How come Ainge still has a job in Utah? Their rebuild/retool is going very bad, doesn’t it?

First he thought that Billy King was still in the league and that he could get top3 picks without doing a full tank. He got #9 and then got unlucky and got #10, losing 2 slots in the lottery. And finally, they were the worst team, but he was rewarded* with the worst possible slot… #5. This looks a lot like the old lolKnicks (oh, the memories LOL) and it’s a lot more fun when it not our team doing dumb things .

*in part, because the league had to make up for the Luka trade 😛

Deuce looked like the best player on the floor in a lot of playoff games last year. Never sold my shares. But that was quite a moment.

I reached out to Mike K about the captcha issue. It’s obviously something WordPress dropped in for no f+*^#}{ reason.

PT, thank you for your response yesterday.

Ainge got top dollar for both Spida and Rudy, but really hasn’t done much beyond that. Ace Bailey didn’t look great last night. They must be patient out there.

Some folks were very down on Deuce in year 2 when the shot wasn’t falling and he had trouble getting to the rim, plus he looked too undersized to be switchable. These were fair concerns, but the shooting was good in the G-league and the attitude and work ethic led to improvement across the board. Very rootable and has that dog in him. Kid’s gonna get paid, might be hard to keep him.

Ace never looked good to me. College numbers were pedestrian for a top prospect. Still don’t understand the hype.

Utah is looking more snd more like one of those perrenial tankers. Ainge obviously knows basketball, but it isn’t easy to strike gold in the draft…. unless you are OKC or SA. Sooner or later he’ll hit or start accepting “fair” trades that move the team in the right direction. He needs some defenders and two way players.

I just read that the Pels are looking to move Herb Jones, any thoughts on trading Mitch for him? Herb has been awful this year, but maybe that’s situational? His contract extension is not ideal, but he might be a good defensive 3-and-D wing addition.

Utah is much better this year than it was last year, at least in the standings. And with all these young players, it’s not hopeless.

I’m a Mo believer but he’s not ready for the NBA yet. Although it’s interesting that Brown is keeping him around while sending others to the G-League.

The quality of the Jazz team Ainge tore down has to be considered, though. To go from that to this, he’s probably been the worst GM in the game over the last 4 years.

Deuce is twice the player Ace is.

But is Trey one and a half times the player that Deuce is?

why do you feel that way i mean i dont want to acquire him now either but i dont have any ill feelings towards him

You’re an idiot, Doogie. Like the yappy dog next door that ruins my sleep, your incessant point-missing ruins post after post. Not that mine was all that clever, but your shrill yapping turned it into pointless mush. Thanks for that, and I vote full ban as he takes the joy and sense of community completely out of this site.

I couldn’t watch the game last night but the first time I checked the score it was 16-0 then again 23-0 I was like holy crap! Glad OG is back and didn’t have to play much last night, good to see the Knicks version of Voltron is fully formed once again.

OG was fantastic. He was still feeling his way offensively (although by the end of his time the rust was clearly falling off), but he had a play early, maybe second or third possession, where his from-out-of-nowhere help D totally blew up their play. It was gorgeous.

And I will always love how Mitch’s very presence turns dribblers back outside and extends possessions because they fear him.

We have now passed Denver for 3rd best SRS in the league. Thank you Ainge for fucking up the Jazz so hard.

Kid’s gonna get paid, might be hard to keep him.

I’ve been thinking this, and because he’s playing so well, and because he’s gonna get paid, I think we could trade him straight up for Eason. I think that trade benefits both sides. We need a big wing, they need a guard. And then it’s easier (Eason-ier) to stay below the second apron.

    OR

We just accept that this is our team, forget about Giannis, go over the second apron with the coming deals, and hope we can get to the Finals the next few years.

Edit: I should add that I’m kind of inclined toward the latter… Very flawed players, but if everyone is healthy they should go to the Finals. With SGA playing the role of Michael Jordan in 1991-1993.

Although it’s interesting that Brown is keeping him around while sending others to the G-League.

It unfortunately did not look surprising Dadiet was sent down there yesterday:

    3-12 for 8pts
    4 rebs
    0 asts
    3 TOs
    22min

Thanks for that, and I vote full ban as he takes the joy and sense of community completely out of this site.

    I’m 100% here.

I don’t love this team. But Leon went all in on it, and by the grace of a couple Achilles tendons we have a very reasonable path to the NBA finals. We’ll probably lose there but that’s still true with Giannis.

I’m tired of overhauling the roster every year. Let this team develop.

I think most would be content to just roll with this highly entertaining 50+ ish win team and see where it goes for the next 5 years.

As much as a star fucker as Dolan is, he likes money and has pretty much kept his nose out of things the past 5 or so seasons. His building is going to be full for the next many years and there should be lots of playoff game revenue. Don’t fix what ain’t broken!

Should something like Spreewell for Starks fall into our laps, fine. But statis quo is pretty fucking strong.

If they can land Giannis for KAT, fine, but I’m not trading 3 of the core 7 for anyone.

No draft picks past 31 can ever be on the table.

yeah no major changes right now please just tweak on the margins if anything by say upgrading on the yabu mistake odd that he had his first double-figure game for us in a game in which brown was doing his best to keep him glued to the bench

I had one eye on the play by play of the G league game while watching the Knicks last night. I think he left the game midway in the 3rd and didn’t return. I was wondering what happened?

You had me until you said 5 years.

This year and next, maybe. But I don’t want to commit to KAT or Hart beyond their current deals.

yeah i thought the same thing about five years as well nba windows typically dont stay open for very long

yeah i thought the same thing about five years as well nba windows typically dont stay open for very long

Our core seven: KAT, OG, Brunson, Bridges, Mitch, Deuce and Hart are 30, 28, 29, 29, 27, 25 and 30.

This year and next, maybe. But I don’t want to commit to KAT or Hart beyond their current deals.

Every team in the league has that exact same issue. You deal with it. There is a new paradigm with the apron system. No team is going to be able to (have that much open cap space) or want to offer a 33 yr old KAT 70M/year. Just like Randle found out, the market for good, but not great is way below the Max.

A team that might have space like the Nyets aren’t giving a 33 yr old version of KAT 35% of their cap.

It’s fine they got rid of the penny. They should get rid of all the coins and just bring back the 50 Cent.

Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren go from making $20M this year to over $80M next year. That’s the third and final (and intentionally non guaranteed) year of Hartenstein’s contract.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact iHart had on Brunson. Jalen’s historically been a 3-4 bpm player throughout his tenure here except when he and iHart formed a pnr pair that was second only to Jokic/Murray in ppp.

I gotta imagine that dude’s going to be available. I don’t know if we’ll be able to aggegate salaries this summer but I’d look for a three-way deal that sends Hart & Yabu to a 3rd team who gives OKC something for them to send iHart back here.

I had one eye on the play by play of the G league game while watching the Knicks last night. I think he left the game midway in the 3rd and didn’t return. I was wondering what happened?

Checking the game replay real quick, he took a fall. I don’t know that they ever said what was wrong.

They were also down 27 when he went out but fought back and took a 3pt lead with 3min left in the 4th, all with Dadiet out. So, not sure if it’s serious or the coach just decided they were better off without him. Westchester sucks this year.

Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren go from making $20M this year to over $80M next year.

Part of me wonders if they should trade Holmgren for Giannis. The salary difference won’t be so big next year and while Holmgren is good and much younger, Giannis is still way better. Holmgren doesn’t have a great injury track record either.

If you are the champs, are 21-1 or whatever it is, and has a historic defensive rating, you don’t change your team dramatically. Even if you could technically improve a little by doing so.

Spotrac has them at $246M next season. The second apron’s around $220M. They have $46M in options for iHart and Dort.

But here’s the thing I didn’t realize when I assumed they might not want to pay iHart… the 2nd apron penalties don’t do shit to them!

    – They lose access to MLE — whoop de damn doo.

    – They can’t aggregate players for trades — they don’t need to!

    – They’re restricted from trading their draft pick 7 years in the future — but they can trade any of the other 30 picks they have.

    – The worst penalty is they’ll have to pay luxury tax next year — but they’ve been getting about $17M a year from luxury tax so far; they can just pay next year’s tax with the money they get from it this year.

So yeah, they’ll probably just bring everyone back. They’ll still be getting money from the Knicks & Lakers to cover their payroll. And why would they care about any of those penalties?

Guys, I’m starting think letting Sam Presti basically write the new CBA was a bad idea.

So yeah, they’ll probably just bring everyone back.

Don’t be silly, they need to make room for their 3 lottery picks… and possibly their other first rounder too.

Presti fucked up negotiating that 15-man max roster size.

    1

Honestly, I think they’ll let Dort & Kenrich Williams go because they’re redundant and they can bank the extra cash.

Deuce correction: I thought he was signed for one session after this, but it’s two more. At this ridiculous salary.

So, we don’t actually need to pay him soon… But that probably makes him even more valuable.
