These stats are far from perfect, but…
Brunson Defensive FGs 17-21, all 4 misses were 3s.
It’s hard to say a game is actually lost by a single player, but this one comes pretty close. Didn’t help that Brown never missed from midrange, but also there’s a reason they kept forcing Brunson to switch onto Brown.
Clips just released CP3. Is he completely and utterly washed? I know he’s wanted to play close to his family, but he might be willing to spend half a season in New York.
i mean it would both help (mentoring) and hurt (even less pt) koleks development
Haven’t watched him at all but looking at the numbers, his biggest problem this year seems to be midrange shooting, where he’s usually elite, has been atrocious. He’s shooting 15% from 10-16ft, his career average is 49%.
He’s also averaging 0.3 FTA per 36, so it’s possible defenders just aren’t worried about the drive anymore and can sit on his jumper.
I’d be very willing to kick the tires and see if his midrange shooting evens out. Very strange that they had him fly to ATL before sending him home, which makes me think something else might be going on.
for sure releasing cp3 at 240 am local time was a shitty thing to do did they really hope no one would notice or do you think maybe he asked for it just remembered that the clips are where he really made a name for himself which makes it even shittier
We’d have to dump one of Huk, Dadiet, Diawarra or Kolek to kick the tires, right? I don’t think it makes sense now that Kolek is in the circle of trust.
Kolek was a -25 in 15 minutes last night; I would guess Chris Paul would’ve done better. Having said that Kolek, may be more of an asset at this phase.
Bondy says: “With Chris Paul news, resurfacing what I reported that the Knicks had discussed possibility trading for the future Hall of Famer. Paul was repped for a long time by Leon Rose.”
It’s entirely possible Giannis may never be on the table but I think last night was a good example of why it makes more sense to trade Brunson than KAT for him if he ever is.
Brunson-Mikal-OG-Hart-Giannis is better than this but still just a puncher’s chance team. Teams are always going to find Brunson. And teams with two bigs are going to punish us for playing Hart at the 4 like Indiana always did (Orlando would use Wagner, Atlanta has Johnson, Cleveland has Mobley, Miami has Bam, and if we somehow avoided all those teams and got to the finals Chet would just fuck him up).
Not if Brown kept putting him in 3 guard lineups with our 2 worst defenders.
Yeah Brown was pretty terrible last night. A Kolek,Clarkson and Brunson lineup should never happen .
Speaking of Brown, my 20 game assessment is he certainly fixed the offensive stagnation but he’s no better than Thibs tactically and worse than him at pretty much everything else. What he’s achieved so far feels like something a good assistant could have done.
FWIW, the Celtics have also beaten the Magic, Cavs, and Pistons in their past 5 games
Ppl don’t like a Brunson-Bridges-Hart-OG-Giannis lineup?
Said last night Mazzula is a good coach. I use to think he just won because of a loaded roster, but he gets most of his roster to play it’s role to the highest level.
Mike Browns home record
10-1
Road record
3-6
I’d like it I just think a Deuce-Bridges-OG-KAT-Giannis lineup is vastly better.
You can have the best defense in the league with KAT at the 4. It’s already happened.
Speaking of the Clippers, they are currently in line to give a team that might break the regular season win record a top 5 pick. Sam Presti is dominating the NBA
Clipper fan friend called CP3 completely and utterly washed. He’s currently feeling about the state of the franchise the way we all did during the Isiah and/or Phil regimes.
I’d be more interested in bringing back Delon Wright instead of chasing CP3..
I will continue to feel that anyone who is expecting Brown to be some kind of massive upgrade from Thibs is in for a rude awakening. The guy has a long coaching record.
That’s not to say that I wish we kept Thibs. His methods were stale and alienating players. He was clashing with management. He had run his course.
Ultimately, it’s a player’s league. Very few coaches make much of a difference in the long run. Honestly, Mazz might be developing into one of those guys. He coached rings around Brown last night.
Fuckin a I just wrote a long screed to have it deleted by captcha somehow… but to sum it up, it doesn’t make sense to trade a well-priced asset (JB) over a poorly-priced one (KAT), regardless of who it’s for.
It’s a good analogy; they’ve trade away picks and they try to plaster over the issues with their over-the-hill superstars with more over-the-hill-superstars.
What stands out most to me in our losses right now is our lack of team-wide size/athleticism in combination with all-around skill. Mikal is the one exception, he’s been a force on both ends. OG is obviously one of those guys and is obviously being sorely missed because there is no replacement for him on the bench, we are jimmy-rigging the lineup to mask that gaping hole. Hart is amazing in lots of ways but he’s undersized for the OG-analog role. Deuce is probably fourth, but he’s also undersized when he’s on the court with Brunson and no OG.
As to everyone else:
-KAT is a lumbering aircraft carrier out there.
-Mitch is a stiff outside of his limited comfort zone and his D is a shell of what it once was, he seems like he can’t move laterally and is getting blown by.
-Brunson is short and mostly ground-borne.
-Yabu is fat and slow.
-Clarkson is soft and aging.
-Kolek is undersized and ground-borne.
The Celts, Magic, and Heat have figured out how to attack this problem, but there will be more. Film of this game is going to get around, not that it was rocket science.
We have a couple of landmark games coming up: Orlando at home and Toronto on the road. You can now throw out everything from the first 20 games, everyone has game film on Brown and our team and likewise he has film on opponents. If we lose either of those games, or both, that’s a bad sign.
Last night put a major dent in my optimism about Clarkson being a quality bench player, he was a disaster on both ends. Brown probably could have gotten more out of any DNP-CD scrub on the bench in those minutes.
Ess-dog, I replied to your post but ignored the Captcha and it deleted the comment. Is this Captcha thing new to individual posts? Not good for me since I average close to 2 tries per Captcha
yeah the new captcha is not wonderful
Wing depth/size could be helped if Dadiet was a semi useful player at this moment .
I recommend copying your post to your clipboard before trying to post it, then if it fails you can just refresh, check the box, and repost.
The guys who really killed us last night were Walsh and Minott, and to a lesser degree, Simons, and Hugo.
Minott might actually be the best minimum pickup if he keeps shooting 40% from 3. Super talented prospect who couldn’t shoot is now shooting.
Not sure that Mazzulla is all that brilliant. They still have a very strong roster, they’re just not fielding 5 all-stars in their starting lineup anymore. Forcing Brunson to switch onto their best offensive player isn’t exactly a genius-level offensive gameplan either.
“You can now throw out everything from the first 20 games, everyone has game film on Brown and our team and likewise he has film on opponents. If we lose either of those games, or both, that’s a bad sign.”
I look at it slightly differently. Mazzulla came up with a good plan to win, and excellent one without OG. And part of it being effective was JB getting torched on defence which had to have leaked into him trying too much on the other end. OG getting back is key, as it hides some of Brown’s tactical shortcomings with his exploit the athletic mismatches/sieve D line-ups. So one part of me says until OG comes back, not much of what happens is a bad sign. The other part of me says Brown has to coach better if just one starter is out injured.

Still no timetable for return
November 30, 2025
Head coach Mike Brown said Sunday that Anunoby (hamstring) still doesn’t have a timetable for his return to game action, though he has done some controlled on-court work, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Anunoby has yet to be cleared for contact but has done controlled 3-on-3 scrimmaging. The 28-year-old forward sustained the left hamstring strain Nov. 14, and he can be considered week-to-week until the Knicks provide another update on his status. Until Anunoby returns, Josh Hart, Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele will likely see increased minutes.
and
Out for at least four weeks
November 26, 2025
Shamet (shoulder) will be re-evaluated in four weeks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Shamet sustained a right shoulder sprain in Saturday’s loss to the Magic, and he’s now facing a lengthy absence. The veteran sharpshooter’s timetable suggests his earliest possible return date is the Dec. 25 matchup against the Cavaliers, but he could be sidelined until the new year. With Shamet on the shelf, Miles McBride and Jordan Clarkson are both worth monitoring in fantasy leagues.
Well I clearly picked a good game to miss. Or a bad one, I suppose.
Mazzulla clearly did just what he was supposed to do, take advantage of mismatches (that seems to be the main part of his coaching acumen, which clearly can work when…), while it sounds like Brown failed to counter, and kept some bad lineups out there too long.
Lou Williams on what he heard about the CP3 mess: https://x.com/thedunkcentral/status/1996241038160126140?s=10
Alan, to be honest I never liked Chris Paul even in his point guard god days. Amazing talent, but quite the little cancer. More than worth it when he was All NBA, but now he’s clearly just a little cancer (not that he was wrong about the Clips!).
But especially now I wouldn’t touch him with your ten foot pole.
This team clearly has some holes, but I have very few good ideas.
As long as we have the KAT at C/Brunson combo we are going to have issues defensively. Throw in guys like Clarkson and Kolek and the issues are going to be hard to overcome. Good teams will take advantage.
I’m not thrilled about having a single bad defensive player on the court these days. The best coaches and players are too smart and too talented. But Brunson is not going anywhere. It’s not worth the debate even if there is one to have.
I think we are going to have to move on from KAT and fix the bench.
I like KAT. I just don’t think it can work with Brunson.
On the bench, we made the wrong additions. We needed defense, not offense. We needed a backup PG that could defend a least a little. That’s why Brogdan was the theoretical perfect fit. His body just gave out. Delon Wright may not be the right guy either, but that’s the profile we are looking for. Clarkson is very good offensive player. IMO he’s just the wrong player for us.
If we could figure out something with Towns, I think that would be the best path. But Towns is happy here. He’s a great guy. Management seems to like him. I don’t have any geat ideas.
I had a draft crush on Minott which was only tempered by the fact that his shot was a mess in college. For that reason I didn’t mind helping off him last night, but if he’s become consistent from the corners he’s going to be an infuriating Celtic. You can say pretty much the same thing about Walsh, who seemed to have mind tricked all of our guys into not boxing him out last night.
Speaking of last night, you could certainly argue it would’ve been a win under Thibs. We pushed the starters, but no one hit 40 minutes and we gave a combined 33 minutes to ClarKolek, who mostly sucked.
For those of us in the “lose some battles to have a better chance at winning the war” camp, that’s the kind of thing we’ll have to grapple with from time to time. I haven’t wavered at all in my opinion that it’s the better approach, but recognizing its necessity does make our draft misses hurt even more.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but..
Either Mazulla is actually a good coach or the C’s roster was more stacked than we realized when Tatum was healthy. For instance- I thought for sure that Simons and White would be the starting backcourt. But boy was I wrong about how well they’d play this way without Tatum
Boston lost at home to Brooklyn not too long ago. They needed an amazing Brown game and an all time worst game by Brunson just to pull out a win last night.
If Knicks play this Celtics team again in the playoffs they’ll win in 5 games.
“They still have a very strong roster, they’re just not fielding 5 all-stars in their starting lineup anymore.”
Do they? All of Queta, Garza, Walsh, Minott, Hugo, and Scheierman, were widely considered to be scrubs or unseasoned kids before the season, and Prichard was not considered to be starter material. Brown has consistently been labeled one of the most overrated max players in the NBA. People even wondered whether they should be tanking.
I was a very harsh critic the last 3 years, but I think Mazz deserves major kudos for their overperformance. Maybe the new car smell wears off and some of these guys turn into pumpkins, but until that happens, he a CoTY candidate for sure.
“Boston lost at home to Brooklyn not too long ago. They needed an amazing Brown game and an all time worst game by Brunson just to pull out a win last night.
If Knicks play this Celtics team again in the playoffs they’ll win in 5 games.”
Boston beat Orlando (who kicked our asses twice), plus Cleveland, and Detroit not too long ago. They predictably got an amazing Brown game by targeting Brunson, KAT, Clarkson, Kolek, etc. and easily shut down Brunson and coasted to a win last night after a fake comeback.
If Celtics play this Knicks team again in the playoffs they’ll win in 5 games.
FIFY
(obviously tongue-in-cheek, just to refute the really silly logic on your part. nothing that happened last night should be considered random until proven otherwise)
“This team clearly has some holes, but I have very few good ideas.”
correct those are not good or geat ideas brogdan especially would have not been a geat idea
theres no transitive property in basketball where a beats b and b beats c so therefore a would definitely beat c and its quite possible that prichard was not considered to be starter material because he doesnt exist as an nba player in any sense
“nothing that happened last night should be considered random until proven otherwise”
except that we didnt have og and brunson almost never plays that badly
For the record, I haven’t changed anything on the site. Captcha kinda does its own thing depending on whatever is going on in the internet, how much it trusts your local computer, etc. Right now I see it as the simple checkbox. Hopefully after passing it a few times, it should get less invasive.
Pritchard had a 3.4 OBPM last season, for comparison Towns was at 3.5 OBPM. I’m not sure why people consider him only viable as a backup.
Derrick White had a 2.7 OBPM last season and a 2.4 OBPM the season before, and he’s a 2x All-Defense player.
Queta has always had strong rebounding and block numbers. He’s been buried on a deep Celtics team.
Simons has always been a good offensive player.
Hauser is dependable.
Brown has stepped up and is showing himself to be the 4x all-star that a lot of people thought he was despite the OBPM numbers.
This isn’t a championship roster, but there’s plenty of talented players still there. I had doubts about Brown, but I don’t think them playing well was terribly surprising.
thanks mike
Mike, just FYI I’m on my laptop all day and rarely access the site on my phone. Historically it would periodically kill my ability to post (once or twice a day, fairly random) and I’d have to sign in again and check the box to do so. As of today it’s set up where I have to check the box for every post (like this one). No big thing, just different.
But I’m very glad I no longer have to identify which pictures have bicycles in them…
for the record, i would just like to put it out there – i am not now, nor have I ever been a robot…
I am simply a marvel, at times, of biological evolution, some space gunk that was riding on some space junk that landed in a universal sweet spot…
even though it’ll just end up being a smart computer making an even smarter computer, you sort of have to wonder now, are any future synthetic beings created also a feature of biological evolution…I guess so…
RED ALERT THIS IS NOT A DRILL
Shams:
It’s Antetokounmpover.
Not sure I’m buying that Mazzula is some genius who concocted a game plan to shut down Brunson.
Brunson missed a ton of close range shots he makes in his sleep, and missed 7 of 8 from three, none of which I recall were that contested.
Their Jaylen couldn’t miss, our Jalen couldn’t hit anything. Taking more than that from this game is kind of silly.
12 days till trade season unofficially opens
Think the Knicks can get Giannis for RJ and Quickley?
Oh.
What are the chances Presti says fuck it and trades for Giannis just because he can?
If we had them, definitely not. The Raptors wouldn’t even be able to trade those two dudes for OG Anunoby!
They could a million percent get him for a package built around OG — at least, if Giannis insists on only going to the Knicks. Which is the same chance an RJ and Quickley package would have.
But also, E, you have to remember to remain in character. And your character has come out in favor of OG, while declaring Mikal the root of all the Knicks’ ills. Stay consistent, or the audience won’t believe your performance!
How long would the Knicks have to wait for the Bucks to stop laughing at an RJ, IQ trade package?
IMHO the only packages that would make sense for Giannis are either KAT plus filler or OG and Mitch plus filler. For MIL to do that, Giannis would have to be so adament about only going to the Knicks that he scared other teams away, or that they were ridiculously deferential to their all-time franchise pillar. Our best hope is to wait until after the season when we have some picks to include, but by then Mitch will be a UFA.
I have aged out of spending hours on the trade machine, but I’ve got one that seems legal and, IMO, everyone at least thinks about:
Memphis gets: OG
New York gets: Giannis
Milwaukee gets: Ja Morant, Josh Hart, MEM’s 2025 1st, NYK’s 2026 and 2028 1sts, and our fake 2026 WAS first that will be two very good seconds
wow, got to imagine, every one on the team – including jalen – must be feeling a little apprehensive…
had to choose: would rather lose KAT and someone good, than jalen and someone good in order to add giannis…
OG, Diawara and Dadiet for Giannis.
Hey, if the Bucks developed Giannis, surely they can develop either Dadiet or Diawara to be the next Giannis!
look i know its giannis antetokounmpo but he hasnt played in as many as 74 games since 2018 and hes on pace to play in only 60 games again this season i could see a scenario in which this goes very very badly for us
Pretty certain we have zero tradable 1st rd picks
wow, got to imagine, every one on the team – including jalen – must be feeling a little apprehensive…
finding out that geo, hubert and owen are covert basketball sluts just dying to shed crocodile tears over jalen right onto their new giannis jerseys has required some spiritual adjusting. go on hubert. tell me i’m the problem and it’s you pragmatists who see through the laundry illusion and have risen above bathing yourselves in loyalist hypocrisy from a team that has already ditched randle, thibs, ddv, iq and rj. say it one mf’ing time to my face.
jalen stays.
I tend to agree that Giannis is a pipe dream mainly because we have so few picks and any trade we make is going to send out 2 very good players, so while he would be an upgrade, we’d create a top heavy team and the big three model of start heavy teams doesn’t really seem to work anymore (if it ever did).
the only scenario I see really working is KAT For Giannis straight up. But then it creates a huge hole at center unless you’re playing Giannis at center full time, which would work sometimes. But I don’t think you can play Mitch and Giannis together too much because of the spacing issues.
If anything, I’d look to be trade partners with another team to send us some picks or young players back and help us replenish the assetts a bit. But not sure that is possible either.
Pretty certain we have zero tradable 1st rd picks
he’s really leaning into this fake girlfriend schtick. i guess dungeons and dragons is off this new year’s.
As best I can tell, since we technically own a 2026 first (the WAS one) we can trade our own 2026 pick, though you’re right that this blows up my plan to include both the WAS pick and our own in the package. We’d have to keep one.
You’re totally right about 2028 though. I should never have trade machined before reviewing the Mikal trade details first.
Still, there might be something in the general framework. Especially since the cost of moving off Ja and getting a very good player back in OG may well cost MEM more than one first.
I’ve become emotionally fulfilled, but when you consider that I no longer can keep track of hypothetical Stepien Rule violations, you have to wonder, at what cost?
“As best I can tell, since we technically own a 2026 first (the WAS one) we can trade our own 2026 pick”
I don’t think that flies. It is either a sure-fire pick in that year or not, protected picks don’t count. If I’m wrong, someone please feel free to correct me.
If you’ve also aged out of the trade machine, it can be rather safely concluded that the cost is too high.
I’ve become emotionally fulfilled, but when you consider that I no longer can keep track of hypothetical Stepien Rule violations, you have to wonder, at what cost?
don’t worry, soon you’ll hit the next stage where your 9 year old obliterates you at 2k and says the 9-yr old equivalent of
‘mitch, please’ whenever you ask how school was, and you’ll go right back to knowing cold that you can’t trade a first rounder if the pick to save the stepien rule has any chance of not conveying. no 26 and no 28.
TNFH, aside from any discrepencies (Memphis 2025 1st?!?!) , I like the idea of a multi-team trade, where OG is traded for picks and a player on a shorter contract. Memphis makes a lot of sense since they picked up some firsts from Orlando in the Bane trade. Not sure how much OG is worth, but gotta be at least a couple of unprotected picks, no?
Third team is probably going to have to be involved. Mikal’s still at his lower number, which helps.
Still all depends on whether the Bucks want to tear down or retool. Most likely, a hybrid — which will require a third team. (Haven’t looked at the details, but assuming that KAT and OG would take more filler than the Bucks can provide, given their high salary figures.)
Maybe they’d take KAT and Mikal for Giannis and filler. They could at least have a puncher’s chance at selling their fans on that.
A small advantage we do have is the Bucks don’t control their own first until 2031, so they have no incentive to go about a classic tear-down. That’s why someone like Ja, or even KAT, might have some more appeal to them than they normally would to a team in their position.
Will that be enough to get us across the finish line? Probably not.
For the record, unless I am grossly misunderstanding you, what you are describing is not biological evolution.
It would have been really difficult for life riding on space junk to survive the trip through the atmosphere and the rapid declleration at the end of the ride. 🙂
If you are interested in the subject look up abiogenesis, the Oparin-Haldane hypothesis and the Miller-Urey experiment.
Unless they get picks from some crappy team which Giannis would have zero interest in going to , they will need a blue chip young player
Cough. Dare I say the Hawks are positioned for him if he wants play there. Jalen Johnson and the Pelicans 2026 pick in the deal will intrigue the Bucks
If Giannis is available, got to think Leon is all over this with Aller analysing 3 or 4 team trade ideas. So if something happens Knicks or not Knicks related am confident that we saw what was on the table ( as opposed to the Jackson or Mills regime)
Dink Pate with a crazy G league stat line today
37 points
11 rebounds
13 assists
3 steals
11/24 FG, 5/13 3P
Giannis was available in the summer exclusively to the Knicks and nothing got done, don’t see why now would be any different.
I think making a trade work will depend on how many picks Mikal is worth.
dang, I kind of thought we had the inside track on the giannis chatter – isn’t this where he wants to land?
understanding we have limited draft assets, seems we will lose 2 of our top 7, and another limited rotation player and include at least one other team in the trade…
this seems like an all-in kind of very limited superstar player availability event…
There’s basically no point in comparing our best package to others. Even an optimistic take on the value of KAT, OG, Mikal, etc. won’t render ours the best of all interested teams, and probably not even close.
What we have going for us is the well-documented fact that Giannis wants to be here, and is only signed through next season.
Best case scenario is Giannis getting traded to a team in the West.
Bob with the big brain – you are right sir, that is a possibility…hurts my head to imagine the process, but yeah, right materials in the right environment…
it’s also true microbes can survive within meteors…maybe meteors hitting water…water which did not ALL even originate here on earth…maybe, most likely, who knows…
what do you think Bob, is all the water from earth too…
we actually do have a game tonite we beat them pretty well last time but we shouldnt think that we should take it for granted by the way mitch is out tonight
Knicks become a second apron team next season so this is the last season they can’ aggregate salaries in trades.
Looking down the roster a bit, Portis and Turner might be interesting. Not sure they’d be worth what we need to give up, but there will probably be more than Giannis up for sale.
KAT + Mikal for Giannis + Turner?
Bucks may want picks, but will they get two players of this quality elsewhere?
Brunson
Deuce/Hart
OG
Giannis
Turner
Jesus.
The Hawks could offer Trae, the NO pick and a bunch of their own. But maybe Giannis doesn’t want to go to Atlanta.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone here think that CP3 could give us more than Kolek while teaching Deuce how to be an NBA PG? With the way he’s played and how his relationship with the team deteriorated as he did his best grumpy grandpa, I’m not sure. But I’m a huge CP3 fan, so it’s hard to ignore the fact that he will be free soon.
Onto the important shit..
Get me Giannis! Almost by any means necessary. I say that because in all likelihood, it will cost us KAT and OG. Maybe KAT and Bridges with the way he’s been playing. Sucks that we don’t have any big money players outside of KAT that I wouldn’t mind moving if a team enhancing trade were available. I just think OG, Kal, Mitch, and Hart are too important to the identity we want to trade them. You can actually talk me into trading Mitch, but there’s no way Milwaukee would take KAT and Mitch
Yeah I mentioned the Hawks as a sleeper above.
I gotta say, this verifies my belief that no trades should be allowed until the off-season. I both want to see what this team can do, and I hate the craziness and chaos that Giannis being potentially (potentially) available creates.
One of Macri’s gambits for him results in this: “So you’d be looking at a bench of Kuzma, GTJ, Yabu, Clarkson, Kolek, Shamet when he’s back”
I threw up a little in my mouth.
“Brunson
Deuce/Hart
OG
Giannis
Turner
Jesus.”
yes indeed jesus which is just one of many reasons the bucks would never do that we are in fact an eastern conference rival so there is no way they would want to set us up that well how about if you do the same thing but change turner to portis
gtj who dat oh yeah trent got it
When is the earliest Mikal can be traded?
Someone wake up Leon and check his glucose level asap. Leon doesn’t do his best work when it’s an open market type situation…he failed to secure Donovan Mitchell last time he was in this type of position. Get Giannis. Pay whatever it takes.
Reports are all saying Giannis will pick his team, and the Bucks will try to work it out for him. They aren’t going to auction him off, which could be great for the Knicks.
so no one cares that he misses 20 games per season?
