    1. “Immanuel Quickley as a Starter Could Recharge Knicks – The Knicks Wall”
      Now, we’re talking!! :)

    2. I kind of love the idea of Quick starting for many many reasons.

      1. Starting defense will improve.
      2. He is one of our core young pieces. Obi ain’t ever gonna start this season with Randle here but IQ should get the chance to show he’s worthy.
      3. He is more of a combo than a PG. But RJ and Fournier both have playmaking skills and this kind of lets Randle do the point forward thing more. Which I know some people don’t find ideal but if that brings out the good Randle then its worth it.
      4. I think Kemba could excel off the bench and I don’t see the bench mob losing its mojo. Maybe a vet like Kemba would bristle at first at being on the bench but I think with Rose already being there, Rose can be like “chill, bro. I’m a former MVP and I’m cool with it.”

    3. I’d absolutely start Quickley at this point, just to see if it works. I do have some concerns about the Kemba/Rose backcourt, but at this point, the starting unit needs fixing far more than the bench unit needs protecting.

    4. Kemba will get hurt soon right? He’s overdue. Would be a nice natural experiment.

IQ’s revival has been quite heartening

    5. Kemba on the second team is almost as intriguing a question as IQ on the first. He can still dribble and shoot the lights out. Would playing secondary ball handler and shooting guard against lesser foes unlock the remaining Walker? Would his defensive woes be less noticeable?

I have no idea, but it’d be interesting to watch.

    6. The beauty about the Kemba situation is that if worse comes to worst, he can just be benched and eventually waived (or traded with a tiny bit of sweetener) given the modest contract. I would give him every opportunity to prove himself, and that seems to be Thibs’ thinking by largely benching him in the 4th quarters of tight games.

Sadly, I love Kemba’s character and Bronx roots, but he is clearly a net negative player at this point. I think he’s holding back somewhat because deep down he knows that if he goes full bore every night his knee will eventually become so chronically sore that he will have nothing left after the all-star break. I listened to this KFS podcase with Adam Taylor from Celtics Blog back in August, and everything Taylor predicterd about Kemba has looked spot on. Essentially, Kemba had to baby the knee to keep it manageable, by minimizing step backs and other space-creating moves to lessen the strain on the knee, and that even that eventually didn’t help. So while it was a reasonable gamble, it just doesn’t look like a winning one right now.

    7. I’m okay with IQ starting but I think Thibs is not.
He showed in the past that if Rose is healthy he’s Kemba’s first backup,
so if there must be changes I expect him to walk this road again.

If Rose’s injured, well that can change the equation…

    8. Tonight I’m fully ready for The Plague: Delta Variant.
      Payton can’t score less than 25 with 8 assists…

    9. Thibs doesn’t seem to trust IQ out there without Burks. I think both would need to enter the starting lineup.

    10. Suns could crush us tonight but we have a habit of playing up to good teams. Defensively RJ on Booker and potentially Mitch on Ayton would work in our favor. No answers for CP3 tho

    11. As long as our point guard on offense is just sometimes getting the ball across the court and passing to Randle at the top of the key anyway, there’s no point starting Kemba over Quickley. I’d definitely like the change.

    12. Max:
Tonight I’m fully ready for The Plague: Delta Variant.
      Payton can’t score less than 25 with 8 assists…

There’s around ZERO percent chance of the “Elfrid Payton game” happening. From a total of 63 games in which he played last season, he scored more than 25 pts only ONCE, 20 or more points in 7 occasions, and what about games with 10 or fewer points? 36!

    13. The IQ for Kemba switch would make a lot of sense. I just can’t see Thib’s doing it so early in the season. I think once you bench Kemba, you never go back to him, so I don’t think he would get benched before the all-star break.
