    1. I’ve been away a bit – bought a new home in Florida and haven’t had much time to chill at the keyboard. Having missed a few weeks of posting, I’m wondering what you all feel about the team? Me?

I’m worried about that starting lineup. Do Kemba, Fournier and Randle all have to have the ball in their hands?
I’m happy that IQ and Obi are playing better. After a slow start for IQ he’s stepped up big.
I’m worried about our centers, specifically Mitch, staying healthy.
I’m happy the Thibs hasn’t thrown the rookies into the fire.
I’m worried that Randle has regressed.
I’m happy that the 2nd unit is very strong.

The team has not done great, but I am most thankful that the Knicks are no longer a team that considers tanking. This is a playoff contending team that is capable of beating anyone.

    2. Happy Thanksgiving to you all, my KB brothers! And extended to everyone you care and love! :)

    3. Your contributions are missed, GNYGNYG. Glad to hear the move went well. The rest of you can swig Clorox.

    4. GoNyGoNYGo: I’m wondering what you all feel about the team?

Very nice analysis, i’m having the same feeling about the team. Only Julius is a question mark for me, i don’t know if he has regressed, or if he is trying to put (a lot) less effort during the regular season to get to the playoffs in much better shape than last season. If it’s the latter, the experience isn’t going well.

    5. Just read the article “Who Are Some Early Trade Targets for These Knicks – The Knicks Wall” and came away thinking what would it take to get Ben Simmons, and if it’s a good idea. Our defense would be instantly elite again, that’s for sure.
About the non-superstars that they suggest, i like Myles Turner (have i said it before? LOL) and Dejounte Murray. But what would it take to get them?

    6. I lost my job during COVID. I’m now 63. Retiring seemed like the thing to do – especially since my job was extremely high pressure and the stress was insane. One of my sons moved to Florida with his now-pregnant wife so yes, retiring to Boynton Beach was the outcome and I’m gloriously happy. I’m back in my house in NY for Thanksgiving and because next Friday my other son is having the wedding that he planned for May 2020. I have a lot to be thankful for. A new home, a grandson on the way and the wedding.

Getting to see my teams down in Florida is a bit of a challenge. MSG Go is a blessing for me and the Knicks. The YES app addresses my Yankee needs. The Jets, however, are a challenge. You need Direct TV to watch them live. I hope the NFL changes that and that Sunday Ticket is made available to other providers. I have a Slingbox which will work through November next season as they are taking down the servers. If the NFL doesn’t do something, I may not watch the Jets after that.

    7. Happy Thanksgiving Knickerblogger! I am thankful for this interesting, if not perfect, ’21-’22 team.

Very wise decision. And looks like you’re doing great, so congrats and enjoy. ;)

    9. Happy thanksgiving, KB.

Been lurking and occasionally posting around here since 2007. Is that possible?

Anyway very enjoyable community. Been a major addition to my Knicks fandom.

Funny anecdote: since the Knicks have become relevant again I find the games very hard to watch on TV because my stress and mood go too sour when the they are losing or lose. I’ve been to 3 already tho. I honestly think it’s 20 years of losing PTSD. Last year was great bc there were no expectations. This year isn’t nearly as fun for me lol.

      Anyway. Enjoy your day!

    10. GHenman: I am thankful for this interesting, if not perfect, ’21-’22 team.

Yeah, me too. And also i’m grateful for this blog and this community. Just like watching the Knicks without Breen and Clyde, it’d be possible to follow the Knicks without you guys, but this way is much much better. :)

    11. GoNyGoNYGo: I’ve been away a bit – bought a new home in Florida and haven’t had much time to chill at the keyboard. Having missed a few weeks of posting, I’m wondering what you all feel about the team? Me?

I like the team. You suck.

    12. Ps: I’m a divorced dad of a 9 and 7 year old. Went down to Puerto Rico for the holiday because I don’t have my kids this year for Thanksgiving. Went to Rincon to surf. Always wondered: any surfers on this blog?

    13. Happy Thanksgiving all.

The next two games should be a very serious test. We are playing the 2 hottest teams in the NBA in the Suns and recently derided Hawks, who seem to have put it all together (no shock). After those 2 games we could be on the outside of the play-in tournament.

We knew the east was going to be tougher this year, but it looks even tougher than I expected.

    14. I’m thankful for all of you (even strat) and while I’d be an insane Knicks fan no matter what, this blog has taken the experience to another level.

I also revamped my basement with a comfy sectional and 75″ TV. That helps! Surviving the Lakers game with my 3 kids on the big screen was pretty awesome!

    15. Happy T-Day all…down here in AZ in purgatory known as my parent’s house…missed the last few games….but got the flava from reading the blog…

    16. Samanic is looking very legit down in the G-League, I wonder if he’ll get a meaningful call-up…

Given how wary Thibs is of playing Obi — a willing defender, if only sometimes a competent one — at center if he has any other choice, it’s hard to imagine a guy like New Luka, with a rep for defensive indifference in San Antonio, getting real minutes this year unless a plague besieges the big club. Though I guess he could get some minutes at backup 4 if Obi or Julius is out for a few games. But I feel like Thibs would rather play Taj or RJ there instead.

Yeah, it’s hard to tell how bad Luka’s defense is from the offensively oriented highlight reels, he seems to have good length, moves well, and is piling up rebounds, so maybe that’s the developmental focus with him. Maybe he’s just a different version of a Kevin Knox-level forward.

    18. cgreene, I feel the same. It’s annoying having expectations from this year’s team. That said, I’m thankful for Obi & Quick, who at least make the games exciting.

Also a divorced dad w/o the kids today, but it’s a decent day upstate, and I’ll see them soon enough.

Hope everyone has a nice relaxing day.

    19. I’m also thankful for Z-Man and Jowles’ spicy takedowns (going strong since the Isaiah Era). Hell, I’m even thankful for Hubert.

    20. New Luka seems more of a 4 than a 5, so unless his 3p% ticks up he’ll be difficult to play (not that it’s stopped Obi)

    21. If I recall correctly Lukas problem was mostly on the offensive side of the ball and his defense was actually solid in San Antonio. So I guess you could say he has a competitive streak to some extent.

    22. howdy everyone…happy thanksgiving…love you all :)

normally i hate leaving the house, especially for holidays…today should be fun though, visiting mom this afternoon…this year we’re going to spend thanksgiving with a young couple and their kids who recently relocated from china and moved in next to mom…

they’ve been absolutely wonderful to my mom and help look after her…it’s their very first thanksgiving :)

mom’s been helping them prepare the thanksgiving meal…it should be pretty cool…it’ll be weird stepping in to their home after so many years of visiting that house with some different folks inside (wonderful older couple that moved to memphis to be closer to their grandkids)…

good neighbors are such a huge blessing…they have a six year old boy who always wears me out a bit when we get together…need to tape together my shoulder so we can spend time playing catch…

    23. great to hear about your move and retirement Go Ny…

have you thought yet about doing some part time work?

friends and i definitely spend more time now discussing exiting the workforce…one buddy has already shifted to part time work, my other two close friends who are close to my age are sticking to about a 67 year plan for walking away…

i’m thinking though i have about another four to five years or so in me…

even though it looks like i’ll be transitioning to a new role at work around february or so – i’ve already begun to imagine work, after work…

my two dream “jobs” are to either work at the local grocery chain by my house as a stock person if i stay in the area, or if i’m able to get myself set up in monterey the goal would be to get a job close by my home working in one of the nice hotels there, or better yet, get a gig working in the aquarium at their gift shop or just doing custodial work at the aquarium – something i could walk to from my home, bring a small bag lunch with me…that would be a lot of fun…

You know, I read an article recently that dug into the reasons for this current national labor shortage. One reason reported was that folks in GoNY’s age bracket were doing exactly what he did: saying “the hell with the work force, I’m retiring”.

Best blessings to you down in FL GoNY; my dad’s been living in Palm Bay since 2006.

    25. While I’m here, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I’ve been relegated to lurking so far this season: work has been really draining; no one thought navigating college athletics logistics during a pandemic would be easy, but that and the labor shortage has affected us, and the district’s glacial speed of going about its business makes things even harder.

Exhibit A: this is me live streaming the final minutes of our football team about to upset the #4 team in the state at our place the day b4 Halloween. If you can, skip to the last 3 minutes where things get all Blair Witch Project crazy: a fight breaks out in the stands, and we have no security present bc the district ended its contract with the LA County Sheriff which ended the cadet program on campus. So I sprint to the stands to try to get folks to chill, and it takes our fucking coaching staff to break up the fight. Then you hear me in the PA system urging people to calm down b4 I realize I was still live-tweeting. Fun times.

At least the Knicks beat the Lakers :)

    26. Thanks all.

I’m thinking of part time work, but I wouldn’t touch it until my unemployment benefits ran out (this past Tuesday). Once I sell the old place and fully settled in to my new home, I’ll probably look to get a 16-24 hours of work gig. I’ve got skills and as long as my blood pressure is under control the money will come in handy.

    27. Great story and well done, Cdiggy. Reminds me of my mis-spent youth hanging out in dives and biker bars and often breaking up fights because a) most people don’t really want to fight but feel they can’t back down, so stepping between them just before the fists fly is usually pretty easy and successful, and b) the bartenders would always buy me a free drink (or two) afterward.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am especially grateful for the first quarter of the Lakers game, which gave me a vision and hope for the future, probably also mis-spent but I’ll take it.

    28. Cdiggy that’s wild! Good on you for trying to help.

Happy thanksgiving to all, very thankful to have stumbled upon a rather obscure Knicks blog when I was a preteen.

    29. @Geo: To work at the aquarium must be indeed a dream job, when people go there they are usually very happy. ;)
@CDiggy: Welcome back, and well done. :)

Raven: b) the bartenders would always buy me a free drink (or two) afterward

Admit it, you only did it because of the free alcohol! :D

    30. The Infamous Cdiggy: You know, I read an article recently that dug into the reasons for this current national labor shortage. One reason reported was that folks in GoNY’s age bracket were doing exactly what he did: saying “the hell with the work force, I’m retiring”.

I retired just before Covid, but it was the same thing. There were aspects of my job I loved, but we got bought out by some over the top bottom line oriented people that knew nothing about our business. It’s one thing to be put under extreme pressure to do what you think is right for people you like (like my boss for example). It’s another to watch people you like get laid off or fired (like my boss) for trying to do the right thing and putting you under ever greater pressure to do the wrong thing. I said “F this I’m out of here”.

    31. I hope everyone at KB is managing to have a good Thanksgiving and enjoying the day!!

    32. Let’s face it, our Deeefense sucks!: It’s another to watch people you like get laid off or fired (like my boss) for trying to do the right thing and putting you under ever greater pressure to do the wrong thing.

The corporate world can suck. People who try to do the right thing for the company are often doing the worst thing for themselves.
