    1. ***I fully expect this to be a Talking Book thread.***

Nothing against TV dramas, cooking meat, the Beatles, or a basketball team called the New York Knicks, but after 12 years of reading this site daily, I think we may be talking about something that I actually like for the first time ever.

And, regarding Talking Book, it is my opinion that Big Brother is quite possibly the best song ever recorded (or is, at least, the best song that nobody ever talks about:)

    2. I’ve never listened to Talking Book, but I just heard the first few notes of the first track and have developed a righteous opinion that the entire album is overrated. I will not listen to the rest of the album and no one can ever change my mind. Carry on.

      Love it!

(And, to be fair to my satirical Hubert self, You Are The Sunshine Of my Life doesn’t quite set the proper tone, especially for the soul-fest that comes on side two. Like so many of the TV pilots I dismiss, I suppose. But, the difference is, with Talking Book you get to Superstition within a matter of minutes, not days, so the level of investment by the consumer is pretty insignificant:)

    4. Having also not listened to it, I’m going to side with Hubert. Talking Book is the Frank Ntilikina of music albums

So, it gets damaged a lot and can’t be heard?

    7. My name is secluded
We live in a house the size of a matchbox
Roaches live with us wall to wall

      You’ve killed all our leaders
I don’t even have to do nothing to you
You’ll cause your own country to fall

that dude took air in, and breathed out music…

I should have come up with a clever metaphor before I posted that. I did not and now regret it.

    9. if anyone has some extra time on their hands this weekend and are looking for some binge worthy watching:

What If…? streaming on disney +

i don’t know what’s gotten in to the marvel universe the last decade or so – but somehow the writing and productions just keep getting better and better…

my expectations were super low for a “what if?” marvel series…i never really got in to their what if? comics which have been around for a long time…i do have some The End titles for wolverine and also the x-men, which are pretty cool…

i have enjoyed the DC “what if” stuff – it’s published under the Elseworlds imprint…some of the best comic stories i’ve ever read…

the second episode of the What If…? series left me with some serious dust in my eye…it was pretty cool and fairly moving…

still got episodes 4 and 5 to watch…the boys are big fans of episode 2’s main character, looking forward to watching that episode with them tonight…

    10. Also “I believe” is one of the best closing songs to an album ever.

great song, that was a pretty interesting change of pace though at about the 4:12 mark…

Yes, yes it is. Not sure if anybody else could pull that off, sticking a funk outro onto a pop-standard like that. (And the best thing is that, on the vinyl, that outro leads back into Superstition:)

    12. anton djokovic slow-walking another victim down, prepping zverev for a little cattle euthanasia…will you hold still please…

    13. C’mon Geo! We almost got through the entire day dedicating the thread only to Talking Book! (Per Jowles’ request, of course)
