game/talent shows are generally pretty happy affairs…used to love extra saucy match game and celebrity squares at some point while young, an american idol phase later on…

weather folks generally try to be extra happy and friendly…again food network, especially competitions, as long as the show isn’t some “worst case” scenario thing…

shoot, so many streaming platforms, easy to find any kind of channel now you like…

not so surprisingly, pretty short list, lasso and abbott elementary showed up, couple of others, plus a baking competition…

yeah, you want feel good – head to the food network…or watch reruns of something from the past…

I loved this episode, and in particular, that part of it. The kid is so sweet and precocious, and sort of a counterbalance to the strange relationship between the two adults, both of who are experiencing existential crises. I guess my experiences both as a parent and a middie-school educator make me hypersensitive to a child that is being wounded by a peer through no fault or his/her own. The flash card thing really got me. Kids aren’t mean by nature. They just fuck up, and almost all will own up to it when they are confronted in the right way. Witnessing this in my real life has been a great joy, so it hit me differently. But hey, that’s what having so many choices of artistic expression is all about! My friends still give me loads of shit for not loving Seinfeld!
