geo i tried to avoid gym from time to time but saw that it’s much harder to be consistent if you’re exercising outside.
A decent gym not extremely crowded with heat and a/c is not giving you the chance to skip due to weather.

enjoy fast paced metal, hard not to get moved by those beats…and, it’s nice that it’s newer stuff…

I stated my presumptions. If one makes different presumptions, one will get different numbers. I don’t see signing both Kayil and Nickels as likely. And signing both to minimum contracts less likely, since the contracts are negotiable.

As such, my understanding is that of the non-starters, only Deuce, Kolek, and Dadiet can be traded right now. AI tells me that Dillon Jones or Kevin McCullar Jr. can be included in a trade this summer via a convoluted sign-and-trade scenario. So it seems like the most outgoing salary that can be aggregated as a first apron team for now is:

Deuce ($3,956,523)
Dadiet ($2,983,680)
Standard vet’s minimum via Jones or McCullar ($2,449,421)

Total: $9,389,624

Does that seem correct?

We can sign Jones or McCullar to a deal bigger than the vet min to increase the maximum outgoing salary. Jones is a non-bird player and can’t go much beyond the minimum. McCullar as early bird player can be signed for up to Early Bird exception: $15,235,500, but I believe only half would count as outgoing salary… so around $7.6M. Plus if we sign them for more than the minimum, we can add their salaries together.

However, as people pointed out the real restriction is the 2nd apron. Doesn’t matter how much we can aggregate if we only go up $3.2M from our current total.

That dollar figure is $2,982,637, with pre-trade residual cap space of $824,347 taken into account. That figure presumes one vet min filled spot and Tyler Nickel signing for the second round pick minimum.

$2,982,637 subtracted from $9,389,624 yields a maximum single-player salary of $6,406,987 that the Knicks could (in theory, this off-season) bring back by trade, while remaining under the second apron and filling 14 roster spots.

We can spend $1,357,763 per roster spot we want to fill. So filling 2 spots costs $2,715,526.

Presumably that’s Kayil & Nickel on 2nd rd exceptions. We could also sign an undrafted rookie to the minimum with part of the TP-MLE (the min exception counts at the 2yr vet number).

Anyway, $7,498,445 is the maximum we can pay a player by trading Deuce, Dadiet, and McCullar/Jones.
