Would be even happier with Cardwell than I would have been with Cisse—as I’ve said a few times, we don’t use our draft picks, anyway, so we should definitely use them to pry away someone of value from another team. But I’m starting to get to the point where I’m thinking…….if they were going to do something like that, I don’t know what they’re waiting for. I don’t even know why they waited so long to extend an offer sheet to Cisse. I mean, yes, more guys might come available as the summer wears on, but so will our sense of desperation to other teams looking to pull a heist on us. And no one wants to help the reigning champs, in the first place, so although it feels beautiful to be able to finally write those words, that’s something else that we’ve got working against us, too.

On the July 9 thread, Doogie brought up Dylan Cardwell as a trade target. I wonder whether a bunch of 2nds and any of our non-rotation guys would be enough to pry him loose.

I imagine the Cisse deal was structured that way to help us avoid the 2nd apron next year if he sucks. You need to offer 2 years and we’re gonna be right up against the apron again.

We can always move Nickel to the 15th spot once his prorated deal is low enough. He has 50 games of NBA eligibility on the 2-way so it’s not a rush.

IMHO, the Knicks should sign Nick Richards and Tyler Nickel and call it a day. Yes, both will probably suck.

They can’t sign both players to an nba roster spot. They have room for a vet min or two 2nd rd exceptions. I imagine they’ll sign Nickel to a 2-way.

Now that the World Cup is (thankfully!!!) over and done with, LeBron can garner all the attention and announce his Decision again.

And the Mavs aren’t the only team with surplus centers; Atlanta has the same “issue” (Okongu, Londale, Veesaar, Gueye, and Zuby). And there are other teams, as well.

If we want a “big who flashed at Summer League,” we don’t need the likes of Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu…….we kind of already have Robbins, who did basically the same thing. Comparing Akobundu-Ehiogu (or Robbins) to Cisse as a prospect, though, is a little silly as he only “flashed” against other no-names, while Cisse did it multiple times against actual NBA players. I know that we’re desperate, but Moses Brown or Kai Jones (yet another former Mav big) ahead of Summer League “this guy has some moments” guys. And thank you for pointing me to who you were referencing, Gonzo. Only had time to skim this morning before asking my stupid question.

Yep, I’d even be interesting in bringing back Jericho Sims or signing Christian Koloko, at this point.
