I doubt I’ll be watching any of Summer League, but things I’ll be curious to hear about, in order of importance:

1. How does Mo look? Has he taken a notable leap? Is he one of those “Too good for Summer League” guys?

2. Are there available big men on any other teams worth trying to snag to develop on the end of the bench?

3. How does Pacome look as a 21-year-old? Is there anything there, or will his greatest contribution to the team be (as Macri noted in today’s newsletter) the fact that he agreed to a below-market contract that allowed us to duck the first apron and make the KAT trade?

4. We’ve had a decent batting average with our seconds under Walt Perrin, though only Deuce has turned out to be an unquestionable hit. Is Nickel ready to contribute in case of injury? Is there anything to Kayil, or will the jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none things not translate when the level of competition goes up?

5. Will any of the other guys on this roster be worth a two-way contract? Jaden Adkins was reportedly fun in the G-League last year?

Since we passed on the draft anyway, I’d rather have someone with at least something like 1,000-1,500 regular season NBA minutes under their belt.

Someone like Dylan Cardwell, perhaps.

Now I’m watching Jonathan Motley highlights from Euroleague and thinking that he has good energy, really decent coordination and some size. He plays Center, but is closer to 6’9 with a 7’4 wingspan. He’s on the Mav’s summer league team. I’ll keep looking.
