I think it was very good reporting, but I think it fell short of smoking gun stuff, and the NBA typically likes to ignore anything BUT smoking gun evidence.

I hardly think this is the place/time to pity (ahem) “poor Steve Balmer,” but you would think that the League would have had to file any case against the Clippers before Draft Day. But they didn’t.

Because if the Clippers are being docked any draft picks, then how can the League allow the Clips to trade them away? And shouldn’t the Clips know the effects of their action before they start to plan their free agency signings, or deals, or draft picks?

The evidence of Balmer’s misdeeds seems so overwhelming, and it seems the league is just unable to imagine punishing their richest owner. It’s terrible.

But that’s some great reporting by PTFO. Pulitzer Prize well earned.

Apparently the Cup Final will be rotating over next few years, looks like it’ll be taking place in older famous college arenas. The semifinals will now be in home arena of higher seed just like the quarterfinals.

In a way I was more into the NBA Cup final last year because of the publicity and good will embedded in this showcase. Now that the whole world watched us in this most compelling finals run, that seems far less meaningful to me.
