They’re down 1-0 in the 9th, 2-3-4 hitters coming up, and the A’s retire the side on 4 pitches. They’re just not playing like a proper professional team.

Lindor always stinks in April, which is honestly an indictment on him, but this year he’s recovering from the hamate injury so it’s even worse. He has also made several egregious mental errors this season and is playing as bad as I’ve ever seen him play.

Stearns rushed Benge into a starting OF job and he isn’t ready, hasn’t mastered AAA, and can’t hit MLB pitching. He needs to be in AAA getting swings in a more low-pressure environment. The Mets also have several players playing out of position, with Bichette playing a position he can’t handle so the Mets can have a place for the very washed-looking Marcus Semien to play.

There’s talent on the team, and the Mets also have a good amount of talent in the high minors, but the big league club is just not showing up ready to play.
