i went to one of those all inlcusives in the DR once…i read that they served the beer in those red party cups and since it was so hot…i figured the beer would get warm quick sitting pool side…so I thought I was smart and I bought this special beer glass that fit into an insulated molded thermos like holder…worked like a charm…the bartenders thought it was awesome…said they never saw anybody bring something like it….surprisingly it survived that trip…but I broke the glass a few years later and that was that….couldn’t believe how many germans there were down there…getting burnt to a crisp…like they never heard of sunscreen…

I am roughing it an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana so will have to miss the game tonight. Sad.

Well I think there’s a difference between thinking there’s a biological rationale for reacting to unpleasantness in certain ways, and a lack of free will. Fight or flight is a real thing, but it’s your call whether to fight, flee, or stand there quietly until the adrenaline washes out.

My uncle was a philosopher who wrote a few books on how there was in fact no free will. He actually had a strong argument, but I just couldn’t go there. Messed with my world view more than if I discovered that ghosts were real…
