I think his defense is that bad, so kinda.

Moreso it’s that we have Shamet, Alvarado, and Kolek off the bench for the guard positions. At the 4 we really only have Diawara, who is more fun than good.

I do like Terry. We can’t sign him though.

Dalen Terry is back on the market.

This is what Hollinger had to say about Terry in the article about waiver candidates

13. Dalen Terry, SF, New Orleans Pelicans — Thrown overboard by Chicago and then by discarded by the Knicks in the Jose Alvarado trade, it’s not clear Terry is in the Pels’ plans either. New Orleans wants to upgrade two-way Bryce McGowens to a regular contract, and Terry would seem the most obvious cut. That said, he’s 23, he’s shooting 41.3 percent from 3 this year, and his stats in four years with the Bulls are more “fringe rotation” than “get this guy out of here.” He’s also two-way eligible through the end of the season.

He’s not a small guard. He’s actually 6’6” and plays small forward. He doesn’t sound awful, but maybe we need a power forward or center type instead.

We’re trying to paper over the temporary absence of Deuce and mothballing of Clarkson here, not giving out a super max.

EB beat me to it, but Cam Thomas has played over 5000 minutes and has a career TS of .551, a career TS+ of 95, and a career eFG+ of 91 on a career usage of 28%. He’s also a career 34% 3pt shooter. Is that empirical enough? If that’s not an inefficient chucker, I don’t know what is. He’s not quite Clank Barrett, but not all that far off.

Not to say he can’t improve, but so far he has been pretty bad.

Cam Thomas had a TS+ of 100 on sky high usage last season.

It was only 781 minutes last season, and every other year he’s been lower.

Either way, his defense is so bad that I’d pass. If we were rebuilding I’d take a flier on him.

You would think with all of the CAA connections across the league, they could get help from a client while staying with the boundaries of the CBA.
