Bob, are you really comparing the physical demands of today’s game to the Zelmo Beatty days? If so, you’re dumber than I thought, and that’s saying something.

These guys aren’t falling apart due to fatigue 20 games into the season. The 82 game season has nothing to do with 3 calf strains the first 20 games of the season. That is the discussion or more precisely what Hubert said, “but there’s been more calf strains in the last week than there were from 1967 to 2010.”

That is a complete falsehood. However, even if we stipulate there are more calf strains now, (there may be more reported now than in the past due to the “injury report” since the number of games has been static for over half a century, how exactly is the schedule the cause, and not something in training techniques? Lots of confoundersare difficult to quantify, but the schedule is a static thing and the rigors of travel are less on the players today than in the past.

And by the way, Betty White was always 30 years older than me. 1952 vs 1922 🙂
