The Giants under Accorsi (appointed by the aforementioned George Young) & Coughlin (hired by Accorsi) were great. Since they’ve been gone it’s been as bad as any team out there. And as Alan pointed out, that’s exactly how it was under the Mara family before the NFL stepped in.

Basically Mara needs Roger Goodell to hire the next GM or we’re fucked.

I guess you have to give the Maras credit for letting Young and Accorsi cook. The NBA once tried to step in and help Dolan and he ended up pushing Donnie Walsh out.

As a Jet fan….comparing the Giants to the Raiders is apples and oranges…I would say the Raiders and the Jets are more comparable…the Giants have played in 4 super bowls in the last 25 yrs …their 2 wins were over the hated Bellicheat and Brady twice (once ruining a perfect season..like the Rangers cup in 94…that alone should last a lifetime)…

The Giants have certainly been good more recently than the Raiders, but the current iteration… I mean it looks pretty Raiders-y

Alan, you are 100% right. The Maras are awful owners who manage to carry off a whiff of historical competence, because outsiders see the trophies. No George Young, no forced Eli trade and we are the Jets.

not such a die hard large event activity person…did get a chance to see barry bonds play…his legacy hasn’t exactly shined – but was amazing to watch play…

Shohei is definitely a player to remember watching perform at a high level…

heard they had done a bunch of renovations the last few years at Chavez Ravine…isn’t it all corporate now?

I just KNOW that the Raiders are going to stink up the joint all year then go 3-1 in their last four games and tank their draft position. May your Giants avoid the same fate.

It’s funny you mention that bc if you look at the Giants schedule, they have a murderers row for 13 weeks, a bye in week 14, and then finish with the four easiest games on the schedule (WAS, MIN, @LV, DAL).

My hope is that they’re 1-12 (or worse) heading into the bye and the disgust is so overwhelming Mara has to fire everyone, and then they just play out the string with scrubs.

But this is Mara we’re talking about. He’ll probably spend the bye week tying everyone’s job security to the final 4 games.

Giants @ Raiders week 17 will be a dandy.
