<blockquote>

It really seemed to me like the Giants should have stood pat with their second round pick and taken the highest OL on their board instead of drafting Dart. The Dolphins drafted a Guard shortly after our pick who is looking really good so far.

They better be right about the QB.

</blockquote>

The tough thing about the NFL being so QB centric is that if they draft a good OL and then win say 9 or 10 games they're just stuck next year with no QB and they're drafing too low to have a chance at one of the better prospects

It has been a disappointing season for the Mets, but it was great seeing Nolan McLean out there spinning 3200+ RPM breaking balls yesterday. His spin rate on his curve yesterday was the highest spin rate achieved by a pitcher in the majors this season.

Like most Mets pitchers, McLean needs to throw more strikes. That is the fatal flaw in the staff that Stearns has assembled: he has all of these guys with great stuff who get groundballs and strikeouts, but everybody walks too many hitters, which drives up pitch counts and means the starters have to get pulled after five innings, which wears out the bullpen. This formula was working like gangbusters early on, but has not panned out as the season has progressed.

They have another guy in AAA who has been absurdly dominant in the minors in Jonah Tong, who has a 65 grade fastball with elite induced vertical break, which means the pitch appears to rise. His stuff looks similar to Tim Lincecum. He gets a very high whiff rate on that fastball. But again— he walks too many hitters.

This is going to be the challenge of Hefner, Stearns and Mendoza next year. They have to get these guys to throw strikes. McLean and Tong are pretty much MLB ready, and Christian Scott will be returning next year too. It could be an exciting rotation next year, but they are really going to need to stop walking everybody. The Mets are 28th in MLB in walks per nine innings. It just doesn’t work.

Giants have the toughest schedule in the NFL and it's quite possible they will be 0-8 or 1-7. I agree with Hubert that they are going in the right direction with Nabors and Carter, two potential elite players. If Dart is above cromulent, then their rise will be faster. My concern is the O line. If Andrew Thomas cannot stay on the field then its going to be another dismal season.
