i realized after i posted that houstan tidbit that there has to be more to it than just being the tallest active player who has never dunked in a game there has to be someone else just as tall or taller who only played a minute or two and never had an opportunity so there must be a number of minutes on it looks like it might be tallest active player never to have dunked in a game who has played at least 500 minutes that makes more sense

I guess I’m also saying that there seems to be no reason to commit to any unsigned “rookie” player whose rights we own until after preseason, or maybe even when the season starts. My understanding is that McCullar became a RFA by not taking the QO extended to him, and Nnaji and Diawara are still both stash-eligible. Unless someone makes a big splash in summer league or preseason (are any playing international ball this summer?) let them duke it out as two-ways or stay overseas.

Yes, it is true that Caleb Houstan, a 6-foot-8 player for the Orlando Magic, has never dunked in an NBA game. He is reportedly the tallest active player in the NBA to have never achieved this feat according to The New York Times.

i am not stating this having anything to do with whether we should or not try him out i just think it is an interesting tidbit it has to be someone and it happens to be him

Just to follow up, aren’t we close enough to be able to carry a 14-man roster for a couple of months until the prorated vet’s minimum is less than the $1.67M we would have left over? It would take around 16 or 17 games to get there, no? I’m assuming that we are dealing with the “discounted” vet’s minimum ($2M) and not the full amount ($3+M), is that the way it is calculated? Seems like someone decent might drop by then…if it’s a rookie, sign him right a way, and if it’s a vet, maybe he’ll wait. Who knows, maybe we’ll need a specific type of player due injury.
