I think that makes a lot of sense, honestly. He had an expiring deal, and he had no chance of resigning there, so why belabor the point?

The Knicks made a qualifying offer to Kevin McCullar Jr. Apparently, he is a restricted free agent already. He was on a two way contract earning $579K last season (his first season) and the qualifying offer is for $636K. I didn’t know that two way contracts came with RFA afterwards. It seems pretty shitty for the players. But I doubt anyone else will offer him more, so we’re probably going to keep him.
