The problem is we’ve had a lot of time for a counter factual to be produced here and it has not happened. The centers we know were available were bad and/or out of our price range. The centers we don’t know were available fall into the ol’ “assume a can opener” category.”

After we lost iHart, which we all agree was gutting (I want to live in the yes-iHart, yes-KAT, no-Mikal universe), it seems pretty obvious to me that trading from positions of relative strength for KAT was the best move.

I mean, if everyone on the roster had played like KAT this series we’d be talking about Boston already.

Just to be clear, I was more than fine with the KAT trade from strictly a value perspective. I just don’t think that it made our team any better, especially as a playoff team, and think that it’s possible that it made us worse, with a very plausible assumption that the hole at C could have been patched relatively painlessly.

I will be happy to come around on that opinion if and when KAT consistently plays like a $50M player in the playoffs. So far he’s been a mixed bag.

Tonight is the biggest game of the season. If we lose, then Saturday is even bigger than that. Brunson is pretty far from 100% and is being shadowed by bigger players and knocked around. KAT is being guarded by fucking Tobias Harris. He needs to show up big time.

The one thing that Randle brings over KAT is the ability to iso and break down defenses as a ball handler which is seemingly something we sorely need right now. It would lessen the burden on Brunson.
