I’m trying to speculate which two Wéstern conference teams will join Sacramento and Dallas in the playin. To me, Memphis seems likely to be in the playin, just because they seem a mess organizationally. But the other team, I can’t figure out. I’d like to see Minnesota make it to sixth place, but my intuition tells me I won’t get what I want.

Alan, personally, I think playing a team with Giannis is always scary. Beyond that, if we really have to worry about the Pistons in round 1, that’s a problem. We should gentleman’s sweep them, and if we don’t that suggests that we are that much further from being a legit contender. I actually think it would be a good measuring stick and a more fun series than the rather stale Bucks.

So now it seems like we’re playing the Pistons. If we’re at relative health, we should beat them, but it’ll be a much more annoying series, I suspect, than if it was the Bucks.

So the remaining drama, assuming no miracles, e.g. Pacers winning out and Knicks losing out:

Eastern Conference:
-Who will end up with the 5 and 6 seeds? (MIL vs. DET, interestingly, they end on a home-and-home on the last 2 games of the season; the first of those games is DET on a b2b with NYK being game 1!)
-Order of play-in teams? pretty ,much anything can happen! (ATL plays ORL twice, plus two tanking teams in PHI and BKN; while ORL has to play BOS and IND; CHI has been on a roll, they play MIA and CLE plus two tanking teams in PHI and WAS; MIA plays CHI and 3 tanking teams in PHI, NOP, and WAS)

Western Conference:
Six teams (LAL, DEN, LAC, GSW, MIN, MEM) can all finish anywhere from 3 to 8 (i think!), so no use even going into it. Then there’s the battle to not get knocked out of the play-in…PHX looks like they don’t even want it, so you can pretty much pencil in SAC and DAL.

Lavine just dropped 43, Derozan dropped 37 and Sabonis with a triple double. Pistons now 2 games behind the Bucks, but play the Bucks twice to end the season and they play the Knicks thursday in Detroit.
