On a related note, Cleveland is headed for the second apron next year, and that’s without both Merrill and Jerome, who are UFAs. It will be interesting to see how that goes. They still go 8 deep even without those guys, but they have become pretty important pieces.

One regular season game that I think is pretty meaningful is how easily the C’s went into Cleveland and took care of business, in a game where Tatum didn’t have his fastball and Spida and Garland both played well. I think that game was the main reason why Cleveland traded for De’Andre Hunter. Assuming Jarrett Allen can play, next week’s showdown in Boston should be very telling.

I think we should all just spend the day contemplating that Elfrid Payton played 22 minutes for a team that lost by 53 points to a team with a .421 win/loss record, and he wasn’t on the Knicks.

Donte was essentially John Starks.

A bit less fire and better shooting but yes, agreed. We miss that a lot. Like I said a couple of days ago, add Donte to our bench and we’re a tier 1 contender.

The Knicks allow the 7th fewest 3PA per 100 possessions in the NBA. However, they are allowing the best 3PT% against.

It’s a weird combo. On one hand, it seems like we aren’t just letting teams shoot. But on closer inspection, we are still allowing 36.7 3PA per 100 possessions, which is only 4 attempts less than the the team that allows the most, and 0.5 less than the Celts, who hold teams to 34.6%. Whatever tradeoff we are making to marginally reduce the amount of attempts just isn’t working, possibly because the attempts they are getting are better looks, even if not from better shooters.
