I 100% don’t think it matters who gets that spot on February 28th, whether it be TJ Warren or someone else. It will be getting so much more attention than it will actually matter.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this here before, but I have running partners who are now in their fifties and still run 70 miles a week with no off days, ever, even when they are sick and even when they are injured. One of them said his goal was to win the Boston marathon when he turned fifty. I thought he was joking. He coasted to a 2:29, winning his age group easily. Also won New York, Chicago, and Tokyo that year. And was pissed that he came in 2nd in London.

He’s an amateur, mind you, doing it for shits and giggles. He has a full-time job sitting at a desk all day.

Josh Hart getting hurt after not stepping on a court for a full week could be because Thibs plays him a few more
minutes than his contemporaries every week… or that could be the availability heuristic speaking. Feel free to think however you choose to think.

To be fair, hubert said Javonte was “league average” from 3, not “decent”. In that sense, that’s correct. As to “decent” I think that would be generous given that he’s 6’4′ and my guess is that he’s below average for SGs and SFs in that size range.

My understanding is that we can’t sign any vet’s minimum players until March 1 when their prorated salary is below what we have left under the second apron. That said, Javonte Green is the very definition of a replacement-level player. He is a 6’4″ wing who can’t shoot except on ridiculously low usage and couldn’t stick on a minimum salary on two lousy teams. He is also pushing 32 years old. I don’t know where the idea that he is a decent 3pt shooter came from, in the two years he played over 500 minutes he shot 35% on 209 combined attempts, on a usage of around 11%. Shamet and Warren are both way better than him, and Delon Wright is at least as good, if not better. If Javonte started for us, either tomorrow or any other game, we’d be in trouble, or should I say, we;’d be in at least the same amount of trouble as if Delon started for us.

I think it’s pretty likely that Warren will be on the roster as soon as we can afford him. If healthy, he can actually help us in a pinch.

I also recall reading somewhere that Cleveland needed to fill the 14th roster spot that opened up when they traded 2 players for Hunter.

Yeah but it’s important to have a quality next man up when he does. Green is no slouch. He’s a league average 3 pt shooter who defends well and rebounds his position. He could start for us tomorrow.

Surprised he picked the Cavs given how much opportunity we have for him right now. Maybe we don’t have the money to make an offer.

The Cavs now have Wade, Okoro, Merrill, Strus, and Green as bench wings. And we have “run starters into the ground.”

If we had any of those guys, would our strategy not be “run starters into ground”? It’s Thibs’ default setting.
