Kolek is probably close to a Trae-level defender right now. He would need to become a Trae-level offensive savant to merit being anything more than an end-of-rotation PG. He has some elite offensive skills, but if he tops out at anything close to this level, I don’t see much of a future for him. But he has a great head for the game and a fantastic work ethic, so I wouldn’t write him off just yet. With some intensive offseason work, especially on defense, maybe there’s untapped upside, but that’s how I see it right now.

I think Dadiet and Kolek should be available also.

I think they are invested in Dadiet for the long term and Kolek has offensive skills if he can learn to navigate the defensive end as a poor defender like Brunson rather than a black hole. His IQ and offensive skill set seem worth investing in for short money.

1. No, he is not remotely that bad. He has his limitations, which is why he’s best of as an eighth or ninth man, but he’s had some excellent stretches for us.

2. Interesting that your mind goes to Buffalo Bill, where mine automatically goes to Gollum. And I’m not even that big a Lord of the Rings guy; Andy Serkis saying, “My precious!!!!” in those movies is just that indelible.
