yep it sounds like the director silo’d themselves and we’re able to successfully prevent much if any studio intervention, other than signing the checks…

so gunn wasn’t able to really get involved…

seems like philips and phoenix had the chance to make the movie exactly how they wanted…

I remember after watching the first movie thinking how much I hoped for a second…at that time both director and actor didn’t expect a second movie…

money talks though and 20 million for each later, they put that together…

not sure if I’ve ever wished more for a movie to have never been made 😊

I didn’t think the synder stuff was too bad at all…definitely no joel schumacher level disaster…joker 2 joins those 2 now though as some of the worst comic book adaptations ever…

I’m sure there’s some other bad ones I’m just not thinking of at the moment…

Sounds like some bitter Snyder fans. Gunn had nothing to do with the movie. Snyder fans insist every DC failure is James Gunn’s doing because they’re upset Snyder didn’t get to finish his vision and Gunn is taking over.

ha KfniNJ, i just kept staring at the nba scoreboard ticker on espn and refreshing the page…wondering why at 6pm, the games that started at 4pm weren’t displaying scores…

it took me like 4 or 5 page refreshes til I got it…

no games today, so, imagining things are gonna be quiet tonight, we probably all need the break…

i will say though that i finally got around to watching joker 2…not sure if i’ve ever been pissed at a movie like that before…

arthur fleck did not deserve that movie, the joker most certainly didn’t…

did watch some reviews to try and better understand what the director’s goal may have been…

it sort of makes sense:
– Chicago (movie musical) like production to move the story along, and, well james gunn did integrate music really well in to the guardians of the galaxy series…
– protagonist outlier behavior causing ripple effects and subsequent “copycats”, like the Dark Knight highlighted…
– social commentary on violence, it’s idolization…

not sure though that i’ve ever seen a director shit on a character worse…

McNeil’s 5.6 WAR season in 2022 is doing a LOT of heavy lifting there in your arbitrary endpoint comparison.

Over the past two seasons, Bellinger accumulated 6.6 WAR, and McNeil had 3.7. Bellinger is also three years younger. McNeil is going to be 33 next year and is not going to be sniffing that 5.6 WAR performance ever again. Bellinger seems to me a better bet to come closer to the 4.4 WAR season he had just one season ago.

To add to this: Bellinger has a batted ball profile that really fits the park in which he will be playing 87 games next season (they will play 6 away games at the George Steinbrenner park in Tampa that has the same dimensions).

They should have traded Gil+ for Tucker, but absent that, there was not much available that would be measurably better for the price.
