I dug up a study from 2020 that found just 53 incidences of facial fractures over 34 years of NBA play. That included just 15 orbital bone fractures and one sinus fracture.

Embiid has now had three just by himself.

Just for context, 34 NBA seasons would be ~15,000 player seasons.

16 such fractures in 15,000 seasons for the rest of the NBA, compared 3 in 9 seasons for Embiid.

These aren’t repetitive stress injuries or re-aggravations of existing injuries. It’s really, really, bad luck.
