I think the premise is to reward the teams that won their division, as well as rewarding the top wild card team, which could easily in any given year be the second best team in the league.

The fifth and sixth best teams in the league get a pretty sizable disadvantage. Seems fair

The KFS guys have noted in the past that KAT and Giannis somehow make the exact same salary, such that I don’t believe there is any kind of apron restriction that could prevent a one-for-one trade with non-salary capital included.

They don’t have their own pick until 2031. So if Giannis does demand a trade, it’s not like they’d want to get a ton of picks and tank. Trading him for a lesser star and rebuilding through free agency would make a ton of sense.

The AL Division Series features 3 teams from the historically awful playoff performing AL Central and the Yankees. You couldn’t possibly set it up any easier for the Yankees, if they can’t break their World Series drought this year it may never happen for the rest of my lifetime.
