The only thing I worry about with the Spurs is Wemby getting injured. He’s incredible, but guys his size just seem to end up injured. I hope it never happens though.

Can someone give a link explaining the Skapintsev deal. All I can find is this and it makes it look like he was signed as a free agent, which I would think Boston could do since someone in G league is available to other teams if they are willing to sign him to a real NBA contract. There no mention of any players coming back to the Knicks. And I know the quoted stats aren’t very good, but he did pretty well in summer league.

The Spurs have a 20 win floor and a 65 win ceiling going into this season. Things have to break right for them, but it feels like their 35.5 over/under is maybe gonna look silly in hindsight.

I’m actually surprised we let Skap go, but at least they got some guys back: Joe Weiskamp, Vit Krejci, Brandon Williams, and Brandon Slater. Weiskamp in particular was a guy I liked at the time of his draft… maybe he can make a stride or two at WC (the shooting has to come around, though).

Charlie Brown and Skapintsev are both on their way out.

This makes it sound like we got rid of them but Skapintev was signed by Boston to an exhibit 10 deal which is a real minimum salary NBA contract that might turn into a two way deal. Both possibilities are much better than a normal G league contract. I thought Skapintsev looked good in Summer league. I guess the Celtics did too. More evidence for what I’ve been saying about the league valuing centers more than it used too.

It seems the Magic had Brown on their summer league team and liked him.

But the argument the last few days had been that “Thibs ignores lineup data if it doesn’t fit his philosophy.” That isn’t true. For example, he’s all about defense and he’s an antiquated idea of offense. No, actually he’s been very flexible and has had better offenses since his days in Minny.

You responded to my argument by creating and debunking a straw man.

My criticism of Thibs was very specific and extremely mild. No one is perfect. If we talk about something he doesn’t do well it doesn’t always have to turn into a referendum on whether or not he’s good.

Orlando is a possibility for most surprising team in a positive way. I agree about Milwaukee possibly being most disappointing, except I don’t really think it’s surprising if they do badly, so I’m not sure if they qualify.
