My guess is that Precious has a verbal agreement for a deal that is at or above market value, and the hold-up is because Leon is pursuing possibilities that require maximum salary flexibility. Once a deal is struck, it either has to be with the taxpayer MLE or the remaining money below the second apron. My understanding is that either option, once it is committed to, limits possibilities in some way.

Is this advisable? Might Precious get cold feet? It is certainly possible, but I think it is unlikely, at least in the short term. I don’t think the market for Precious is strong enough for the Knicks not to be able to match or beat another offer.

It’s also still possible that he can be overpaid and then used for outgoing salary in a sign-and-trade scenario. If he is signed now and it isn’t a sign-and-trade, my understanding is that he can’t be traded until December 15. Is that correct?

Barron actually played in 8 regular season games for us, not 7. He played in the last game of the 2012-2013 season for us and got 11 and 18 against the Hawks. 🙂

Washington JR is ball hogging for the Knicks but he’s scored a bunch of pts and has 79 games of NBA experience. Charlie Brown JR last year was by far the best Knick in their awful SL team but he had played in 41 NBA games and it was noticeable how much better and poised he was than his teammates.

But yes, he did in fact average a rounded 12 and 12 in his 7 games with the Knicks. He also had a vintage game at MSG in a win vs. the 2010 Pierce-Garnett-Allen-Rondo Celts that lost to the Lakers in the finals, where he played 44 minutes and went for 17 and 18.
