who the fuck is benching bojan dude? He’s 34, he can’t defend and he’s been on the team for 8 games. We had a really nice win yesterday and our best player-who I thought was done for the season when he couldn’t move his foot-is probably fine. Why have you spent the whole day bitching about Josh Hart and Thibs? Can we not fucking enjoy a Knicks win for a day?

'We won’t try it bc coach only wants defenders and rebounders to round out the roster. The league is leaving Josh Hart-Precious Achiuwa-Jericho Sims frontlines in the dust while our coach is leaning into them.'

Hubert, I like you (on the interweb) and periodically agree with you, but this really seems like beating a dead horse. You want Thibs to start iHart, Bogey, and Burks as the frontline? Really? Cuz they're all shooters... I'm pretty sure that'd work...

We do not have a roster of shooters from 1-10. I give you that. As Hollinger intimates, maybe that's also not quite the way to go (unless you have a suite of all-stars as your starting cohort, like the Celtics).

We're also not the Warriors of the mid-teens. Yeah, I'll give you that one too, I wish we had Steph instead of Hart.

I'm not convinced that a team of "beat the other team into submission" is a losing proposition in 2024. We may not know as we've lost most of our beaters, but January certainly suggested it was a potential winner.

Sounds like Hollinger is saying the same thing…

While the Celtics’ utter annihilation of the league this season gives them dominant stats on several levels, the kernel of it is that everybody can shoot, and thus, opponents have no help defense. Boston’s top eight players all shoot over six 3-point attempts per 100 possessions, and all shoot at least 35 percent from distance; as a team, Boston has by far the highest 3-point rate (nearly every other shot) and ranks fourth in accuracy at 38.6 percent.

Thus, the core strategy against every other team — deny the rim, live with the 3s — is basically a death sentence against Boston, a 58 percent effective field goal percentage proposition. The distributed nature of the threat is the other problem and stood out in stark contrast to the Warriors on Sunday. While the Warriors surrounded two generational shooters with much more ordinary perimeter skill, Boston rotates eight guys who can burn you.

…

In any case, look for imitators to spawn soon. The Celtics are awesome, and stopping them is an impossible question — especially with Kristaps Porziņģis around to mash the switches that have occasionally vexed Boston in previous postseasons. Finding an entire rotation of shooting threats is hard, but if the Celtics’ stampede continues through June, I’d expect plenty of their rivals to try it.

We won’t try it bc coach only wants defenders and rebounders to round out the roster. The league is leaving Josh Hart-Precious Achiuwa-Jericho Sims frontlines in the dust while our coach is leaning into them.

Strat wasn’t talking about the top 4 guys. Their bench is shooter, shooter, shooter, shooter, which flies in the face of his (and Thib’s) belief that you need hustlebunnies to support your top players.

Is it possible there's more than one way to build a good basketball team?
