New York is looking at various avenues to upgrade its point guard depth behind Jalen Brunson, sources said, while the Knicks also continue to evaluate center options because of Mitchell Robinson’s ankle surgery. Although with Murray in favor of a fresh start, according to sources with knowledge of the situation, it seems questionable that adding the former All-Star to pair with another ball-dominant lead guard like Brunson would have much different results than Murray’s partnership with Young. Of note: When Atlanta and New York discussed the 2022 trade that brought Cam Reddish to the Knicks, the Hawks valued Quentin Grimes during those talks, sources said.

Let me make a gramatical point here. The Knicks said Robinson would be re-evaluated in 8-10 weeks after the surgery. It seems like people are thinking of that as the same as the earliest possible return. But the words don’t mean that. They just mean they will assess his healing. My guess is he’s in a cast and they will do X-rays and other tests. Even if he looks good in the X-rays, I can’t see him as ready to return until the cast is off and he gets up to speed physically. That may not be right away. And if the healing is slow, it could be much longer. I don’t see re-evaluated as incompatible with out for the season, no matter how unfortunate that seems.

I could see the Wizards throwing a ridiculous number at iHart. He’d slot in nicely next to Kuz and Poole to the furthest extent it’s possible to say anything nice about Kuz or Poole.

I could see this because the Wizards are the kind of franchise to contract someone like Bradley Beal $500M to play basketball for them and not break 50 wins once over the course of those payments, with no end in sight

so yeah, give the role player $80M over 4, Wizards

do it

Stupid/interesting article I just stumbled on about each team's most disappointing player this year. I only note it because they chose Mikal for the Nets. If that's a general take, maybe we can snake him?

(It was Grimes for the Knicks, I presume because RJ was already traded, but clearly the writer hasn't watched the last few games... I think my call at the moment would be Small Sample Size Precious...).
