I’d nominate the 1996 offseason:

Shaq, Reggie, and Michael Jordan were all free agents that summer. Knicks ended up with Houston and Childs. The allure of MSG took a major hit that year. (Allan Houston was an all-time bad rookie and wasn’t very good in Detroit or for his first few years in NY. But… if you want an RJ comp for somebody who got a lot of playing time and money to do it badly, but eventually turned into somebody useful to winning given the right system, Allan Houston’s a guy).

Also, yes…….I do know that it is actually incorrect to use “one-word phrase,” since one word is generally not considered to be a phrase, almost by definition. But that usage was a direct quote from an Internet source, and as such, it would have been incorrect to change it. I could have used “[sic]” (“used in brackets after a copied or quoted word that appears odd or erroneous to show that the word is quoted exactly as it stands in the original”), but it would have been inappropriate for this particular circumstance.

I don’t find it annoying at all, even though I’m not even doing anything wrong by using the one-word version: “The one-word phrase, moreso, is an alternative spelling that is being used more and more frequently.”

And if I *had* actually been wrong, I would find it even less annoying…….which would be difficult, since I wasn’t annoyed by it in the first place. LOL 🙂
