She finished on a high note, winning Player of the Week honors in her conference on the strength of a 20 Kill (vs. 1 error) 16 dig 2 ace performance, including a monster game-winning kill on her last play.

That sounds like a +7 or +8 BPM performance.

That kind of thing must be euphoric for a parent.

One thing that made it so worthwhile for me was the bonding with parents of teammates. We would go to all the club sites, including the ones in PA (York, Lancaster, State College, and of course Philly) and party after the matches. Our club supervised the kids separately, so we were totally freed up to party! Some of my really good friends and golfing buddies are parents I met on the club circuit.

That continued into college…this year’s parent group was awesome. They would set up a couple of tailgating tents with flagpoles, speakers, grilles and we’d all bring food, beer, etc.

But a lot of that was due to how committed my kid was. My older daughter played high school and club, but at a lower level, and the experience was much more low key.
