The thing I remember being angry about at the time was ex-Knick Bob Hill getting fired that year, despite winning 59 games the year before and being a victim of all the injuries. And Popovich, the GM and President at the time, fired him and replaced him with himself, only to revert back to contention and enjoy 25 years of success.

I was in college in San Antonio with Bob Hill’s son at the time (who was a dick) and I remember thinking it was funny that his dad got fired and was being replaced by the idiot GM who had traded Denis Rodman for Will Purdue
