1. Jalen Johnson is 21 and had a positive BPM last year
2. He is more than three years younger than Obi Toppin
3. He was certainly the hive mind consensus pick in that draft
4. Try offering Obi Toppin in a trade for Jalen Johnson and see how that goes
5. You cite his TS% as the main reason when he’s not any good, conveniently leaving out his elite rebounding rate, excellent stocks rate, size, ability to switch on defense, and playmaking
6. We’d be a lot better off if we had drafted Jalen Johnson rather than pissing that pick away for nothing, because Jalen Johnson is an NBA player and not a pile of ashes

OMG are folks really pining over missing out on Jalen Johnson?
1) He is not actually good…a pf that had a TS% of .554 on a 16% usage? Please. He’s a dime a dozen.
2) he would have been playing behind Obi Toppin. That pretty much says it all.
3) He was hardly a KP consensus pick.For example, TNFH was all hot and bothered about Bones Hyland, you know, the guy who was dumped for the equivalent of the worst possible outcome of the #19 pick, i.e. two seconds. Oh wait, maybe it was Ayo Dosunmu, who also sucks.

The handwringing over the trade-out of the #19 pick in the 2021 draft will continue to be the silliest handwringing ever done on this site, where only the most blatant cherrypicking gymnastics could merit outrage at this point. Nearly every player picked at or after #19 (other than Quentin Grimes) would have been a better asset than the actual CHA protected pick at this time. Including Jalen Johnson.

The only actual legitimate gripe is that the CHA pick was traded for the garbage known as Cam Reddish.
