This front office doesn’t seem confident enough in its ability to identify good young players to make the picks, and instead are always looking to minimize risk with those picks. It’s by far the most frustrating part about Leon Rose’s tenure.

But when drafting long term, why would you worry about fit? You should just pick players who work hard and have a chance to get good. A lot can change in a few years and you might need them; or, if you have redundant good players, you can trade one for something you need.

By the way, this is why I was so frustrated about Keels. He wasn’t good yet when he played in summer league, but he was much better than last year and still very young. We didn’t get much in return for not seeing him develop.
