Who else wanted Deion to go undefeated? Damn.

It took him 3 games to triple our win total from last season, so it’s still a huge success. Deion might steal some big names for next year’s recruiting class and make a big story of it yet.

Plus Travis Hunter was out, no thanks to a dirty hit from CSU.

Ever try to play Alex Chilton on guitar? There is serious magic on that record. Their live versions pale in comparison. It’s slick and period-specific and it totally works.

Never Mind is one of the best songs of the end of the Mats’ prime, and the sheen totally works.

Well, they had some good luck early on hooking up with Peter Jesperson, who was kind of a de facto manager in addition to a producer for them. He brought them pretty far, and helped them make some great and timeless records early in their career. Tim really stands alone as the only truly great record they made that was marred by crummy production. Some people don’t like Jim Dickinson’s production of Pleased To Meet Me but I think that record sounds incredible, I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

I will say that I don’t care for Scott Litt’s clinical production of All Shook Down, which has a very separated kind of sound, like everybody is playing in a different room at a different time. The songwriting is really strong on that record but the performances just aren’t there in my opinion.
