I think Garuba has real upside. He won Rising Star in Europe a couple years ago, was efficient with good rebs and defensive numbers in Houston, and showed some offensive upside in FIBA for Spain averaging over 17 points/36 for them.

I am willing to bet he will look much better in Golden State's well run offense over the summer league level mess he was in Houston last year.

I would rather have him than Sims, Roby, or Knight. I think he is both better now and has more upside.

There's a reason Houston cut both players and there's a reason neither player got more than a two-way deal. I wouldn't describe either as high-upside guys either.

Garuba has zero offensive upside. At 6'8" 220 he's a massively undersized C. He was worth a risk in the draft for a pick rich Rockets but he's got a lower ceiling than Knight at this point and doesn't fill a need for the Knicks.

I liked Tyty in the draft but there was always questions about his athleticism. He probably tops out as a good bench guard. More salient, he probably doesn't want to sign with us and play behind Brunson, IQ, and Deuce.

Miami showed the 2nd chance market is flush with talent. It makes sense to chase the guys there who fill actual needs instead of a 4th PG or C.

We all know Arcidiacono's making the roster. Over who though? Roby? Jeffries? They better have a plan to trim the fat on this roster because we are the NY Wildcats and Thibs does appreciate Arcidiacono *shrugs* lol

So instead of taking a chance on the upside of tyty and Garuba two 21 year old 1st round picks we signed 26 year old Knight, 26 year old Jefferies, 25 year old Roby, 29 year old Arcidiacono, 23 year old Washington jr., 23 year old Jacob Toppin to contracts and 26 year old Charlie Brown Jr., and 25 year old Skapintsev to exhibit 10 deals.

Other than Martin we can’t even take end of the bench fliers on players with upside.

I don’t know why at least a couple of our g-league, two-way and end of the bench guys couldn’t be under 22 with at least some home run potential.

It’s like Leon is allergic to upside gambles even the lowest risk ones.

We all know who we wish that fifth guy could be, EB. Alas, it's not meant to be.

Also, I've never heard of an Exhibit 9 before.

@IanBegley
Ryan Arciadocono’s deal with the Knicks is an Exhibit 9 pact, per sources. Knicks have 14 players on standard NBA deals, so they have an opening to add another player on a traditional deal prior to the regular season. If he makes regular season roster, Arcidiacono’s deal can be no longer than one season and no more than the veteran’s minimum.
